Hi, I am new to this game. I need some help at the Staff of Magi quest now. I got the rogue stone from Temple Ruins after I beat the Shadow Dragon. I went to Bridge District, but I can't open the locked door besides the one that has a Lich at basement.
I am dualing my character, Kensai/Mage, but I don't know how I can reactivate Kensai if my mage is high enough.
Thanks in advance.

You will regain Kensai abilities automaticly when Level (Mage)= level (Kensai) +1.
As for openning the door, make sure your stone NOT in any of bags. It must be in the inventory.

You can't open the door? - if it is because it is locked - use the spell "knock" on it.
You kensai will be "active" again when you mage-level overtakes your kensai-level.
You wont be able to get anymore levels in you kensai-class, if that is wath you are asking
Hope this helps - and welcome to the board

Well, won't I get attacked for casting magics in town? I haven't bought the license to cast magic in town yet. Well, not that I can't fight those mages. I wonder, what would happen if I just kill them?

I doubt very much you will be able to kill them. Remember, Irenicus in the beginnig? I suspect they will keep teleporting, then accidently you will hit a bystander, and guards will attack you, and so on...
But again, knock will not open the door, for the Twisted Rune, just make sure your stone not in the bags.

I've never heard that. Every time I've done the Twisted Rune (many, many times) I've always had the rogue stone in a gem bag.

well, believe it or not, I managed to kill those mages successfully, once!
I just ran out of their site, and just see they were casting confusion. then they were attacking each others. I just used cloudkill to kill them all.
btw, my rogue stone is not in my gem bag. but, everytime i tried to open that door, it's locked. if i cast knock, it will open, but then the mages will attack me.
Have I missed some steps or neccessary items?

Are your sure? There are several of them in the game, so maybe some of the other party members had it on them? It should not be the person who tries to open the door...
I faced it several times, when the quest item was in the bag of holding, and the dialogue with the quest giver did not have an option like " Yes, I have it!", until the item was out of the bag.

It has been a while, so I do not remember exactly. The best way, is use the quest walkthrough by district right here, on GameBanshee.

Yes, I do have it in my main guy when I try to use her to open the door, and it still gives me LOCKED thing.
However, I might have killed something wrong inorder to do this quest though. Damn, if every mean fails, I will knock it open, and kill those damn mages

It is simple. If you have enough money, go and buy a magic license, you will get plenty more money in the future, and it is worth the staff of magi and the exp from twisted rune. cast knock and then click in the open doorway so you get the symbol to enter, then it will teleport you. if the cowled wizards attack you from not having a license, just enter the building anyways and they can't follow. if they have never attacked you before, then they will only give you a warning. hope this helps

Thanks alot!
But, I am ready to wipe those mages out this time
hehe, web plus cloudkill kills almost everything. I will becareful though. Any exp is good to me, as long as killing these mages doesn't negate me later in the game.

hehe, damn I hate that battle... first all the hassel with getting that damn gem... then facing the twisted "instant kill" rune members. Give me the other liches anytime a day...

Ohh, I see, you've installed the Baldurdash fix that makes the Twisted Rune thing into a real quest?
I never installed that because I don't want Nalia in my party for even half as long as it would take to recieve the quest.
But, without that quest installed, I have always gone through the door with a rogue stone in one of my NPCs gem bags, and that's the only rogue stone I ever carry (I always sell all but one rogue stone until I do the twisted rune).
