Well, summoning greater bonewalkers is fun because they damage strength, making your opponents immobile.
Combining cold and fire on target is fun and works against many hostiles.

if you specialized in mysticism, absorbing spells would get u a long way

Yes, but he didn't ask about mysticism. ;) Let's stick to the thread subject.

Destruction? A good, long distance fire spell can do a lot for you. I'm playing with the SuperAdventurers mod installed, and it adds pickpockets around Vivec. I took out one jerk running away with about 750 of my gold at 25 paces. Gotta love a nice, cheery fire. :D

Hah, but how do you tackle fire resistant or immune opponents?
Anyway, I also like poison (edit: not that it's effective but...) because if the victim moves it looks alot like farting haha. :D

 :D That doesn't make fire any less effective, because there are counters to any destructive spell--Reflect will turn them all back. And poison is too slow. An opponent with magic can remove it or heal themselves, and an opponent with healing potions can heal themselves, too, before any poison kills them. The nice thing about fire and cold-based spells is that damage can be instantaneous (if you set it up that way). It's hard to counteract a fire spell if you're already dead. ;)

Poison can also be instant if you set it up that way, it's just not so cool to do that with poison.
I mentioned fire resistance because the original game is loaded with Dunmer.

Have you ever killed something instantly with poison? How much poison did you apply to do an instadeath?

Using a combospell (8 effects) to create damage should do the trick, but I've never tried it.

That isn't a poison spell, though, and you said poison could deliver an instakill. I'd like to know how you specifically achieve that.

Actually, the most effective destructive spell I can think of is Damage Health, because there are so few counters to it. It slips through almost all protections. Can't use it in my current game, though, since I've got a mod in place that deliberately makes it almost impossible to use. The thing's pure cheese.

Ehm, are we talking about morrowind or a different game, because using an 8 times poison on one spell is a poisonspell in morrowind.

You wrote,

And I'm asking how much poison you need to make an instakill spell. :)

Using the service of a spellmaker, you'll see that all elements can be designed the same way: duration/min dam/ max dam and area, thus the spells makes no difference in effect on the target (ignoring resistances/reflect etc.).

Drain Health is a very powerful spell, but it either kills or does nothing, because the victim gets his drained health back after the duration of the spell. The spell effect itself is cheap to make and easy to cast, it's the timer that makes it so expensive. The trick is to make a Drain Health 100 pts for 1 second spell: any starting character with a little skill in destruction can make it, it costs almost nothing and it instakills most monsters in the beginning of the game.

Haha, my younger brother always pulls stunts like that, original kills/spells, finding bad collision detection etc. :o

My favourite is to make a multiple effect spell (frost, fire, shock) that deilvers low levels of damage over an extended period. That way the spell does its work for you while you either pelt an opponent with arrows or hack it up with a melee weapon. It is kind of like conjuring a pet, without the hassle and high mana use.
Plus, low level, extended duration, spells often penetrate the defenses of magic resistant creatures.

Not to mention that the multiple sparks and swirls look great!

Another bonus, of course,of such spells, is that if that the effects stack :D
