I am looking for some Arkanis Gath information. Especially concerning his background, abilities, stats, etc. I'm kind of interested in how he got to Athkatla, what his history in the forgotten Realms is and how he ended up with the Shadow Thieves.

I tried some searches here on gamebanshee and google, but with little luck. I'm not interested in purchasing books, I'm just looking for a bit of information on the internet.

If anyone could help me out on this, I would be grateful.

All I know is that he spawns in Mae'var's hold with his killer sword if you attack Mae'var before you're allowed to, and he spawns in the docks in that area where you need to pick up the crate for Bodhi if you side with her.

Anyway, I always thought he was a rip-off from R.A Salvatore's Artemis Entreri. Oh well.

I know everything there's to know about him in-game. His stats can be looked up with SK or Infinity Explorer and what he does in the game becomes quite apparent when you play it.

That still doesn't answer many of my questions, though, since what you two told me, I already knew. What I don't know yet, is how he ended up with the Shadow Thieves, what his history is, etc.

However, I'm afraid that won't be cleared for me, because the creators apparently didn't pick him from a fantasy setting like Drizzt or gave any additional information about him whatsoever.

I'm not aware of any book that includes him as a character. But I haven't read many of the Forgotten Realms books, so it's possible that there is such a book.

My guess is that Arkanis Gath was a character in a pen-and-paper game played by BG2's creators back when they used to play D&D together, much like Minsc, Bodhi, Anomen, etc. So unless you can get them to talk, I don't know if you can find any information about him other than what you see in the game.

I feared as much. It was only after I created this thread, and after I did not receive many replies -neither here, nor at the fanfic forum- that I realised Arkanis was a character made up solely by the creators themselves. I had hoped he would be like a Drizzt or Artemis Entreri, but that was lost hope. Searching for his name at google brought me to this site only, so that should've been indication enough, I guess.

Vondondu, where did you find out that information? Is it online?
