Hi

Hi there dhiemaz,

Heres some of the games i have that a alot like DL:

1-Morrowind : Elder Scrolls 3 + both expansions (You can now buy and battle chest that has all 3)

2-Gothic

3-Gothic 2 (Better than Gothic)

You can also try Neverwinter Nights and its 3 expansions and Dungeon Seige. But the top 3 above are your best choices for a game like DL. Hope i helped.

Another pc program like DL

Blade of Darkness is another one quite similiar to DL. It was published by CodeMasters and developed by Rebel Act Studios, if I remember correctly.

Another Daggerfall/Morrowind venture is due out late this summer. It may even beat the 1.3 patch for this game.

Something less similar but a really under rated RPG is

"Vampire Bloodlines the Masquerade"
1 gig memory is required enjoy the game.

Yeah, I liked vampire too. Has a similar feel to it. The only thing that annoyed me was the long loading times.

You could try spellforce if your desprate, it is part RTS though. You can switch back and forth between 3rd person and 3D RTS style. The game is worth bargain bin price if you can find it. Gothic 1 and 2 are the best 3rd person and Morrowind is the best 1st person in my opinion. Anticipate TES4 Oblivion and Gothic 3 later this year.

G3 is still in development. You could try JoWood's hompage, or if you could read German, google it in the Germany Google.

Blade of Darkness is an action game, not RPG - loads of fun if combat is the goal. Rune is along the same lines, but older - Blade of Darkness translates well to modern hardware.

Another 1st person - like Morrowind - is Arx Fatalis

Gothic games I & II are definitely best choice.

Also love Bloodlines.

People you Are forgetting about the games that started all this. Might and Magic. And for my taste the best RPG ever was Might and Magic 6.

Ok they are now old and the graphics are bad, but the gameply is great.

I'ts just and opinion and plese don't crusify me for it.

Hmmm ... I see that you can get Might & Magic I - VI as a collection pretty cheap. Is it worth it? What about the others - VII - IX? Looking at GameRankings shows VI as the high point, with later chapters declining. What about earlier ones? Is it worth getting the I-VI collection? I don't care about graphics! Any pointers?

About I - V - I'm not sure.

But if you don't care abot graphics then You defenetly have to try Might & Magic VI and VII. It's worth it.

Apart from the excellent Gothic 1 & 2 and Morrowwind, there is:

Divine Divinity & Beyond Divinity
Sacred (plus the Underworld expansion)
and soon (hopefully)
Elder Scroll IV: Oblivion

Might and Magic

the orginal ones are clasic, i played then many times. The grafx are real old, but the turn based play and 6 characters you get, and the fun of the game are unmatched. Then again, maby i am just an old timer

Great - I just found that they did a 'millenium edition', with :
Might and Magic VII - For Blood and Honor
Might and Magic VI - The Mandate of Heaven
Might and Magic V - Darkside of Xeen
Might and Magic IV - Clouds of Xeen
Plus 2 Bonus Games - Swords of Xeen & World of Xeen

And that is available very cheap as well. Perhaps that will be what I grab ...

Make sure you can run them first. Check the system requirements, using XP you'll probably have to run them under 95 compatible mode.

Thanks for the tip ... but I already got to go through that joy getting all of the 'Ultimate Wizardry Archives' running on my XP laptop. So I'm pretty sure I'll be OK.
