How long do you take choosing your hair and face as opposed to your stats and abiliti

Yesterday, a friend and I were discussing the amusing fact that we both spend a lot more time trying to decide on the look of our characters than we do on abilities etc.
The irony of this is that neither my friend nor I are the types to spend much time on these matters in real life. I tend to fall out of bed, clean up, find something clean to wear, run a brush through my hair, and that is basically it
But in Morrowind, I spend an inordinate amount of time choosing faces and hairstyles. And then, once my character is out in the game world, I lose no time replacing the shabby threads you start out with.
Er, anyone else?

Nope. I can't see my chracters face for long anyway, since after a couple hours of playing, they all look the same in their helms and armor

I use patches to improve looks, but when playing I first choose what's effective and then the way they look.

It takes me forever to find something. Because I'm using Xbox, I only have one chance to do this, so, better make the right choice...

I fell into that trap once before--when I was GMing in DragonRealms. Then, i'd spend a lot of time deciding on the outfits each NPC I created wore. In Morrowind, I tend to focus more on other mods.

I thought I had a great face for my current Imperial paladin. Then one day, I took a look at him wearing a silver helm, and god he looks like a dunce.

Accessorizing can be a pain.

But there are a lot of nice clothing and store mods, if you want that. I'll list a few, if anybody's interested.

It's interesting that a LOT of mods focus on clothing, hair and faces and the like.
Once I created a char, did a few minor quests, visited Blamora, Caldera, Molag Mar and then I decided to start to change my pc's hair and face. Uh, twice.

Could you Fable? If possible, ones that don't need bloodmoon/tribunal to run. The only extra accesories I have installed, is kilts at the Balmora fine clothier

I'm exactly the same as you Dragon Wench.
In reality spend very little time on appearance in Morrowind spend hours choosing face/hair and worse editing the existing hair styles of one race for another. (Most of the Breton male hairstyles are hideous - long or balding particuarly horrible)
Stats wise I usually pick the same abilties Speechcraft, Security, Sneak, Light Armor, Short Blade, Acrobatics, Alchemy, Enchant, Conjuration, Mysticism, with the Atronach as my sign. (So that part of character creation takes very little time)
I've also downloaded almost every clothing mod I can find (especially those for Better Bodies) although sadly most of them are for female characters.
Clothing is very important to my characters as I tend to wonder round unarmored (summoning daedric armour when required)
I'm wondering if I would spend so long on the aesthetics if I played using the first person view.

I do play the first person view
lol! to further complicate my selection process I've also downloaded some race mods
* The Galith (snow elves)
* Meadow Fae (related somewhat to wood elves but smaller and shorter with wings

)
* The Old Ones (playable vampire race that comes with the Underground mod)

A very, very, very, very, very long time. I've downloaded over 600 custom-made heads and hairstyles

It's weird that I don't care much about fashion in real life, but my Morrowind characters always look flashy and fashionable

Azurians
X-Jit
Orcjit
Night Elves
Fallen Angels
Chuzi Wood Elf
Pharlan
Wolf-Race
Red Haired Chimer
and up until recently Kenyari, Gailith, Falmer and Alyeid (sacrifices had to be made)

If you want new heads and hairstyles, try the various Rhedd's Heads compilation packs, or Astarsis' heads. They are all masterpieces. (see MWSummit)
...since after a couple hours of playing, they all look the same in their helms and armor
Bleh, helms are for soft-skins. I think that it's very important to have a cool looking character. Since beast races (which are more like 'best races', thank you very much) all look ridiculous wearing helms, it's a good idea to make sure they have cool heads and hair. Then again, after downloading Sil's better heads for Argonians, I don't think that a bad-looking Argonian is possible
