My character was not join mage class, is that will affect to my magic ability ?

My character was not join mage class, is that will affect to my magic ability and power ?
Or maybe I must increase my magic level to get the power of my magic ?, like arcane magic level.
If my arcane magic level is 10, how much I can damage enemies with NOVA BLAST ?
please help me, I'm newbie in this game... Thanks

All magic related skills will cost more advance points to learn if you are not a mage.

Magic Guild is not the only way to deal with magic. You have in other Guilds classes that deal with forms of Magic. See learning bonuses in each of classes you want to take.

If you want to use magic then the main things about joining guilds and choosing classes is:

If you are in one or another guild (and class) it affects spells you can purchase.
If you chouse one or another class then it can give you special skills to regenerate your spells faster. Without them it can take very long time to regenerate a powerful spell. (see Channel, Scribe and Alchemy)
If you chouse one or another class it can give you learning bonuses to magic skills. Without them you will have to spend a lot of advancement points to increase your skills.

If you are new in DL, then I’ll suggest you to inspect possible Classes here. Chose 5 you want. Get them as soon as possible. And only then go completing the main quest.
