Forest of Mir - Master Wraith fight (SPOILERS)

Hi everybody,

So far I accomplished The Saradush quests, then I went back to Pocket Plane to exit back to the road of Yaga-Sura. I clean the area of the North forest and exit to the Forest of Mir - The Temple. I am now in front of a Master Wraith and his Accolytes. Any suggestions how to defeat this gang of monsters, cause I tried a lot of strategies so far but they seem just to strong for my party.

The master wraith has some spells - but the power in his party is the enemy combo around him. Yes. You should have whirwinds and Negative Plane Protection. Buff your fighters with NPP and have them whirlwind and focus on killing the shadows and mists that appear. Your mages and clerics shall support the party keeping the master wraith occupied, casting summons and disrupting his shield spells. In no time you should have slain all of his horde, so when he's clean of fire shields and stuff you can just bash him hard. He'll fall easy. You can have your clerics cast Energy Blades too, and kill his horde with your tanks and slay the MW with blades.

This is one fight where the mage spells Comet or, even better, Dragon Breath come in handy. Also, Horrid Wilting and/or lots of summons.

Well, you could try all that, or...

You could initiate your cleric's Turn Undead ability, and...

*** BOOM ***

...chunky death carnage everywhere!!!

well, but I'm not sure you can deal(Via Turn Undead) with the master wraith himself if you have not yet completed WK and received big hlas. Sides, what's the fun of that?

Nope to turning/destroying the Master via Turn Undead, even with my Cleric dude being high level as he was.

But 6 on 1: the Master didn't have a prayer (so to speak).

When *all* the Master's minions exploded a few seconds after turning the ability on,
it was... just... too... COOL !!!

Duty before fun, Brother Antonio. Lathander would expect no less. Amen. ;)

But, you'd need a real high level cleric for that and I get the impression that Kromm's party isn't all that high level yet.

The Master is probably un-turnable at any level, but, as it pertains to turning/destroying the Master's generic undead minions...

Not high enough level yet, at that point in Throne of Bhall ?

I... see.

Indeed. The monster has high hit dice and may even be not into the game as undead what should be a trouble.

Alas, BG is a game where I neglect turn undead because of its limitations. Its pretty good in PoR RoMD but here it seems a bit too weakened.

Sunray.

Use Daystar and Helm of Brilliance. Just in case have your cleric cast an additional Sunray and the Master should be toast.

I always had very good luck using the Turn Undead ability. My main PC was a single-class Cleric, which tend to level up quick.

It's probably ineffective at any level against 'unique' undead such as the Master Wraith, but it popped every last one of his minions.

I also remember using it at various times throughout the Saga. The middle level of the dungeon in the Windspear Hills comes to mind, when being overwhelmed by an insane mob of vampires: I didn't *destroy* any of them with my Turn Undead ability, but simply turning just a chunck of the mob made a huge difference.

As the undead horde advances, Minsc (via that Helm), Keldorn (via Daystar), Aerie and my PC Cleric (via spell) begin the motions, and then...

...those punks are toast !

a level 34 (i think) cleric can chunkify kangaxx in his demi-lich form.

highly satisfying.
