I'm gonna be starting ToB tonight. How many of you people are still in SoA? I just have to finish hell, and please dont post any spoilers. Also, all you guys that claim you have soloed the game before, how?? How can you do it with out being a thief because then you cant open locks or detect traps. Also, how do you kill dragons? How do you kill undead? All these monsters that are hard with a full party, how do you get past it soloing? How do you even get out of Irenicus' dungeon, much less killing him?!

When soloing the game, one does not have to uncover every nook and cranny of the game. Avoiding a lot of combat is part of the key. Think about fulfilling a moderately difficult quest where each party member receives 20,000 quest XP's with minimal combat. Well, if you are soloing, that would be 120,000 XP's for the pro.; thus, you can level up really fast. I tried soloing but didn't like because I like to explore all the avenues of the game with different combos of NPC's. Read some of the accounts on banshee's bg2 page regarding soloing. I believe there are accounts for kensai/mage, jester, swashbuckler/cleric and a few others.
Crush enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of the women.

Well u lucky berk... ToB sounds like fun if it could get to sweden soon... a well a few more days and i'll buy it. As for going solo... well it sucks or at least i think. the game isn't supposed played that way but thats just my opinion. Some solo artist use Fighter/mage/thiefs and some uses Kensai/mages etc

@Yshania-Don't worry, we'll be getting ToB in November (OOC: tell me if I'm going too far )

OMG Brinky - you are following me around LMAO! Behave!
November, that is really bad. The date in the UK keeps changing. I have it preordered and will wait patiently. Still got a bit in SoA to do before I decide which of my PCs I will bring into ToB.

I soloed through bg2 with a monk , you can "force" locks open and all the important onces that you NEED to open to advance are openable in this way . Monks can use amulet of power for undead protection. With very high magic resistance the dragons were all killable, just keep hitting till their dead, not much skill needed .
As for larger groups of monsters , a great tactic is to let them all see you and start chaseing , then you run around a corner and hide, some will chase but there will be stragglers that dont bother. Killing them is much easy when their spread out.
With ToB installed , soloing with a monk will be MUCH easier because you will get all your abilities well before your done SoA. Im just guessing but 40th lvl will come before you finish SoA. Useing whirlwind + hardiness will make most of SoA trivial.

well, i just finished soa/tob with a solo monk, the hardest part of the game is the final battle when you cant rest, i finished the first 3 fights with the boss without using any special habilitie wich i used in the fourth battle, how i did this? simple, just had a full charged wand of cloudkill to spend on the boss, and fleeing from the sumonings while the cloudkill did the job
the high level hability hardiness is so much useful and i think i wouldnt had soloed without it, i had 6 hardiness using 3 gives 120%resistance to all physical attacks thats how i got on most of the thought battles in the game, even with my great armor class(-17) those fire giants were hitting me constatly so hardness was the key

You know, I have to wonder if L is going to answer anybody else's questions, or just keep making endless requests for information every tiny step of the way in ToB without breaking his SoA record.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
@L - To get an idea how others have soloed with a non-thief character, check out Two's thread on a solo bard and The Adventures of Erica the Cleric.

There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...
What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.
