I'm in the uk so am still waiting for ToB. Before it gets here though are weapons like the HA still the best? Or are there more powerful swords etc?

Have you checked out the stuff about ToB elsewhere on this fine board, or done a search on TOB and weapons? Plenty has been discussed. Look, you should. Ask again, redundant is. ;)

In fact, if you'd bothered to even look down on this same page, you would have found a topic much like this one that's already been posted.

I did read it. And the other threads didn't answer my question is HA still the best or are there other better swords. All the swords i can find listed here are +5 which is the same as HA. So the question still stands.

One word.
No.
The Holy Avenger is NOT, yes, NOT the best weapon out there anymore.

I believe there is this Halberd which is also 6+ and has this cool ability which makes the blade have a 10% chance to kill the oponent by decapitaion. In addition, deals Poison damage.

It is called The Ravenger 6+

The Axe of the Unyielding has a similar ability to chop heads off, yet is one handed.

Take your pick. I prefer the axe myself because you can dual wield it with the New Improved, kick ass Fail Of Ages, or hold a Shield along with it. :D :D :D :D :D :D

That all depends on what you consider makes a weapon good; in terms of damage potential, it's certainly not the best. Personally, I love the Ravager +6. I had Sarevok stick all his extra proficiencies in halberds, so he could use this sucker.

50% magic resistance is tough to beat, though, in terms of practicality. Dispel Magic on each hit is also high useful, as are the three castings of Dispel Magic per day. So, as most things are, it's a matter of preference.

Yes, but would you rather Chop off a head, or dispel magic??? :D :D :D :D
hehehe.

I agree Dispel magic is quite useful. I have been known to strike my own allies to dispel an effect. You can never have enough Dispel magic type spells amongst your party.
This is where the Carsomyr come in VERY useful. :)

Do the heads actually come off? If so sounds VERY cool. Oh does anyone know when ToB will be in the shops in the uk?

I think so, I have not tried it myself though. Most probably they will simply die.

No gory decapitation animations unfortunately. Just instant death (check out the Fallout games if you want to see violent death scenes on a similar scale to Baldur's Gate). ;)
