Mages Quest II

I'm doing the mages quest 2 and have talked with Duul. I should go to the forbidden land to Maa. But at the entrance to the forbidden lands the gards will not let me pass. Help!

You'll need to get permission from Vartugg, and for that you'll have to work on the quest to free Valdane, which starts with his father Lord Graemare in Bolen Fields.

Thought if I do the quest to free Valdane first, Fernham would close in the meantime.
