Magic weapon saving throws

When a weapon is the recepient of a spell, a magical weapon gets a saving throw against harmfull effects (unlike a normal weapon).
But how is the calculated?
Say character casts Warp Wood against a magical bow, how high is the bow's saving throw?

The bows saving throw should be it's enchantment bonus if NOT in the hands of a person. if IN the hands of a person, it uses the persons saving throw. I am failry certain of these rules. If not, I know it works that way for reflexes.

My DMG (3.5) says 2+ 1/2 caster level of item is the saving throw bonus magic items get. Non-intelligent ones only. This is for all of their saving throws by the way.
Yes, if a person is holding it, the item can use its own saving throws as calculated above, or the person's, whichever is higher.

Now that makes a little more sense. I'll remember that when you guys fight a mage with a sundering ray

*sniffles* Luckily one of my characters is limited on equipment needed, the other can make them in a jiffy.
I'm hoping I can get my two campaigns up and running by this weekend. I have some things I want to test out, might as well throw this in there with my little group of tests too.

My character took an Oath of Poverty; I have no posessions.
So no worries here.
I agree that a weapon uses the person holding it's reflex saving throw as he is the one 'reflexing' however (ut if the rules say otherwise then I follow the rules unless we house rule it), fortitude is used when the item has already been hit and thus should use it's own fortitude saving throw. Will saves are hardly relevant... perhaps with intelligent items.
Where did you find that bit Mag? I couldn't find it.

Interesting way of calculating saving throws. But it does raise a question. Does a simple +1 (or whatever) item have a caster level? If so, how does one figure this out?

According to my DMG 3.5 all magical armor and weapon have a caster level equal to three times their bonus - e.g. +1 weapons and armor have CL 3, +2 have CL 6, +3 CL 9, +4 CL 12 and +5 CL 15. That is a minimum caster level to create basic items. If that armor or weapon have some other special ability (like cold resistance for armors, disruption for weapons) minimum caster level for creating that item is higher of two numbers.
