Powers of the Relics

I didn't really notice a dramatic change to my character after turning in a relic. Some XP and stat boosts. Is that? Can someone give me the low down as to the power of each relic? Or is the stat and XP boost all there is?

As far as I know, that is it. And compared to the tougher monsters the xp isn't all that.
The shield is handy though and this time I am going to keep it with me for some time. That way I can use it against the magic bosses.
