Poison

I know most of you play 3E, but please humor me with this one. I know there are house rules on this one, but I would like to hear other opinions….

When a poison or monster with poison says Save vs. Poison or DIE, what exactly does that mean? I got into a discussion with some friends and some were saying yes your dead, others said it just dropped you to 0 HP – (assuming you play to –10 )

Yes/no?

You're dead. Depending on a type of poison you might need Neutralize Poison spell cast on your corpse before Raise Dead because otherwise you have to make another Poison save and on a failed save you die again.

Is that for the duration of the poison, or indefently?

If you died as a result of poison (regardless if you die as a result of a failed save or damage you take) the poison remain active within your body for 2d6 hours. If you do not neutralize that poison before using Raise Dead spell, your character will succeding Resurrection Survival Chech be forced to make Save vs. Poison and suffer all the effects of a poison on a failed save (keep in mind that person raised with Raise Dead spell at that point will have only 1 Hit Point so some poisons will kill him again even on succesfull save).
