Amulet of Proof against Detection and Location

Post by bariumdose »

Has anyone found this item useful for anything?

I've read the description of what this amulet is supposed to do, but I've not found any enemies that have tried to divine where my wizard, who is wearing the amulet, is located. I'm sorely tempted to sell the bloody trinket. . . .

I haven't actually seen this item, but wouldn't it work like a Cloack or spell of Non-Detaction in BGII. If this is the case, rogues using stealth and wizards using invisibility or equivalent wouldn't be detected even be high level spells such as True Sight (or Invisibility Purge in TOEE).

It's one of the items you can loot off Ramnos or Gremag if you decide to kill the Trading Post spies in Hommlet. When I wear the item on my wizard, I don't get any options on the radial menu to use the item and it doesn't say that my wizard is invisible on the status board when I select the wizard. But I guess you're probably right in that it works like a Greater Invisibility spell.

It functions as if you're under the effects of a nondetection spell, which basically means scrying/divination type spells used to see you when invisible and the like wouldn't work. Since your enemies never really use any spells like that (in the unmodded version at least), it's basically useless.

Plothos, aren't there are enemies in the game that have the abilty to see through illusions without the use of a spell. In this case the amulet may provide permanent protection against such a foe :) .

Hmmm, there may be. Did you have anything in mind? I imagine that by the time you reach them you've probably got a more important ammy going on, but you're right, there might be one or two things out there.

I didn't have anything specific in mind, although I wouldn't be to surprised if one of the final bosses to gain the skull gems or complete the game has a high level ability as I described.

Anyway, it may be useful to hang on to the amulet just in case :) .
