Ok. So my problem with getting to Santa Monica is fixed. (I downloaded a patch which enabled me to do what I needed...) Now I have a problem getting back... The same problem, actually... Now every time I try to leave Santa Monica the game crashes... How do I fix it now? Are there any patches, official or otherwise that anyone would recommend?

Well you can try the unofficial patches. Make sure to have the 1.2 official patch downloaded before hand. I do not know if they will solve your problem, particularly since I don't think its overly common. However, it might be worth a shot. You can download them
here.

You can download a public domain version of WinZip from
http://www.WinZip.com and use it on your system without charge.

I've been a computer geek for 27 years, and once upon a time even I was a computer retard. It's like being literate. Every single living body on this planet was or is illiterate at some time in their life, simply because nobody on this planet was born with the ability to read. Don't get down on yourself. Nobody knows everything. If anybody did, then I would be in charge
Having said that, from the WinZip site, you should have downloaded an .EXE file that is a self-extracting executable of WinZip. If you execute that file (after downloading it), then it should install WinZip on your system. If you choose the normal install, then it should register WinZip as the default program for files with a .ZIP extension. Once that is done, double-clicking on a ZIP file (like an update) will cause WinZip to start up, and you will have the option of extracting the file and perhaps even executing the setup program.
Once you are set up, it should look (moderately) sane. Aside from jumping through the hoops, it's not that different from double-clicking on a .DOC file and having Word fire up.

You'll need to extract them into your Vampire - Bloodlines folder. The default location is: "C:\Program Files\Activision\Vampire - Bloodlines\"
The official patch needs to be executed. So extract it somewhere you can find it, and then double click on the vtmb1_2 file. It should lead you through the steps. If you haven't installed that one already, make sure to do it first.
