Odd character concepts wanted

I started playing this game again with my internet being down this month and have decided to play out some odd character types having played through it a good number of times. Any suggestions for some interesting and fun types of characters to play?

I had one in particular I was trying to figure out how to do. I searched through the forums based on it, but gave up after countless arguments between Dex/Str deals and figured I'd start another thread. I now have read through endless posts of those two arguments, so no need for getting into that.

I have wanted to make an armor wearing, dual-wielding Jedi character however. My problem is, what classes to pick as best, and what powers to pick to use given the armor restrictions. The armor would make it so I could bump my STR up and have a good defense earlier in the game. A lot of the powers I couldn't use granted, but that would make things a bit more challenging and force me to think of different ways to play the game than I have been.

Thoughts on how to do this would be much appreciated, or any creative character ideas. :)

What about a jedi sharpshooter? Someone who doesn't go in for melee?

That could be interesting. I think I'd need to go with scoundrel and solo for that though. Or, pick two tanks to get between myself and the enemies so it would be feasible. The range increment for those blaster weapons isn't all that impressive, you normally get off 1 round of shots before they're on top of you, maybe 2 if they're idiots and slow. :p

If I wear armor, I'm restricted to the follow branches here of powers:
Force Push
Force Resistance
Force Breach
Stun
Stun Droid
Cure
Wound
Slow
Fear
Drain Life
So, a melee character with armor on could forgo Dex down to say 10-12 or so, and bump Str. They wouldn't have as high of a defense as someone with Jedi Robes and the Master Valor/Force Armor/Master speed to boost things that way.

I think max defense would be roughly 28 or so without getting into equipment beyond a suit of armor after the Jedi class bonus to defense (Equipment just is too complicated for me to deal with to go through atm. :o )

The sharpshooter character, I could essentially drop Str, and pump Dex. Focus on the powers that disable an opponent to keep them at a distance through the fight. Force Wave with sneak attack is just cruel though.

The question would be, dual pistols or heavy weapons? Also- power blast, rapid shot or sniper shot? I've always tended to ignore blaster's just because I hate switching to a sword after one round of shots. I equip everyone with a sword to keep my companions alive longer.

The whole idea was to furnish a challenge, which was I thought was what you wanted--hence, a sharpshooter in KotoR1, where ranged weapons are underpowered. ;)

I'd suggest sniper shot. That raises your accuracy, while Speed or speed shots can help with the rest. Throw in two jedi, or maybe one and Canderous maxed to melee.

I think I might do that, rifle wielding with sniper shot would fit best. I can't see a person wielding a pistol, or a huge blaster trying a finesse type shot like that to be honest.

Scoundral gets Sniper shot for free I believe, the question would be, to pick that and go for the Defense and Sneak attack bonus, or go for Scout with the Implants and skills involved with that class.

If you're gonna go with a sharpshooter Mag, does it make sense to have an armored Jedi? Dex is the bread and butter of a sharpshooter, but armor will kill any dex bonus.

I actually think that someone did a sharpshooter FAQ at gamefaqs if you're interested. Btw, I agree w/Fable- pistols. However, I think that Rapid shot should come before Sniper.

Well there was two seperate concepts there. I've wanted to see about an armored Jedi for a while. Just because of the serious restrictions that armor places on your powers you can use. That would be a melee character.

If I went with someone using blasters I'd have to have Dex and I'd go without armor. As for the pistols, then it wouldn't be a "sharp shooter" character to me. Granted the game makes the range for rifles just ludicrous, but I think I may go for the whole "hunter" type thing. Rifle and sniper shot, maybe power blast as well is what I'm thinking. It probably isn't as good as two pistols and rapid shot, but thats not the point. I'm thinking "Hick superhero beats Malak".

How about a stregth based Consular, I must warn you though Mag, these are the hardest types of characers to try, I guess the best thing to do would start off as a soldire and go on to a consular.

I just started one of those about a week ago. I did an average spread of ability points, then decided I'd pump strength as I leveled. It's an interesting character, I personally love the Consular class and just jumping into a fight and blasting everyone with force powers. The problem is surviving the fight that way with a low defense. :p

Yeah, low defense and vitality are the main problems of a consular, I think putting a good amount of your stats into strength Dexterity Constitution and Charisma would be the best.
