Which is your favourite?

Sorry if there's already a thread like this... if there is, I couldn't find it. >_<
Personally, I like the first NwN campaign better. It's longer, and you get a better chance to learn a lot about NwN and the types of characters, which is what I think they were trying to do in the first place... What about you guys?

Erm, I just run rampant and test things out in the game. I've never actually beaten any of the modules.

It's a close call, in my opinion, between HoU and the OC. The OC gets the slight nod, mainly because its over twice the length. The OC had a couple interesting NPCs, cities, and the advantage of being "fresh." There were a couple really interesting quests (Charwood comes to mind) and a couple interesting plot twists. Ultimately, the game is anti-climactic, though, and lacks serious character development among the NPCs (Aribeth being the only exception to this). The henchmen are particularly dull.
HoU was solid as well, though. In general, the combat encounters were more interesting. Likewise, the NPCs were much more thoroughly developed (I'm a great fan of Deekin, in particular), and the underdark was fairly well done. I found the opening dungeon somewhat excessive, and would have liked to see Waterdeep developed as a city in more substantial ways. The plotline was a bit too predictable as well. It would have been significantly better than the OC, if it had a more developed plotline and, in general, a longer duration.
SoU was just subpar, at best. It was rather dull in most parts, with few interesting NPC (save Deekin), and a boring plotline. Some of the early parts of the game were entertaining (the White Dragon dealing, etc.), but the adventure as a whole really fell apart by the half way point. Again, it was quite short, as well.
All of the NwN games needed substantial improvements to even hold a candle to fine DnD titles such as Baldurs Gate I & II, and Planescape: Torment, in my opinion. So, I was a bit dissappointed in all of them in some ways.

i like HotD.. i just like it better.. SoD was a pretty lousy extension i think..

I agree. It is between the OC and HotU. One of the other strengths of the game is being able to craete and dowload new adventure 'modules' for it. Some of the user-created content matches and surpasses Bioware, such as the Demon module.

Actually, the OC was merely included to showcase what could be done with the toolset. I rather enjoyed playing through it, but I really did like Hordes better. I agree that Waterdeep could have been better developed, and that overall the module could have been longer. The Underdark was/is tedious, and reminded me more of Irenicus' dungeon at the beginning of Shadows of Amn. Made replayability really hard, knowing it was going to have to be ran through.

Yes, I agree that Hordes was also pretty good, and I'd have to rate it second best in my books
. I like starting at level 15, because if you take monk you can get the speed early on, and you can reach the prestige classes very quickly. Shifter and Red Dragon Disciple are fun to play early on.
(EDIT: ) Undrentide I wasn't impressed with, but I am also a huge fan of Deekin!
It moves on rather slowly I thought, where as the original campaign changes fairly significantly, IMO.
I really liked the battle where you're with the Drow Seer etc., and you're fighting the Valsharess' army. (sp?). I thought the "gathering" of the various allies was a little slow as well.
(ANOTHER EDIT: ) Also, one thing I forgot to add again, I thought there was a lot of different types of characters (personalities) in Undrentide. You've got your halfling caravan group, Deekin (of course), Master Drogan, our favourite dragon Tymofarrrar, and many others. That's one of the things I enjoyed in SoU. However, I thought there were too much dialogue containing "persuading."

The Demon module follows on from 'ShadowsLords' and 'Dreamcatcher' series which are probably some of the best user-created content for NWN. Find these mods and others here:

The first on this website - 'A Harper's Tale' is also very good. You just need to dowload the hak and module from the module's description page.

HotU without a doubt, though I do very much enjoy the Interlude in SoU- probably the best bit.
In all honesty though, I really cannot stand the original campaign any more, I mean the story (such as there is of it) is pretty good, it's just that the gameplay becomes somewhat repetetive- search an area for a part of the puzzle- whether it's the reagent parts or the Power Stones(?)- find it then go on to next area and repeat. I think it boils down to the fact the story isn't as big as the game and it just doesn't keep me interested any longer.

Sure, try 'A Hunt through the Dark' series as well (where you are a drow) too and Twilight (start as a Paladin). Those are good modules.
