I'm just curious: if you do not have a romance going with Aerie and H.Dalis is in your party, do he and Aerie get engaged?

Yes, Haer'Dalis and Aerie will get together even if yoú're not romancing her. Their romance starts if they both are in the party, if you're romance Aerie as well, there will be a conflict, if not, then it will run smoothly.
