A New Touchy Feely Trend

I recently came across a very strange new fad while reading the lifestyle section of our national paper.... The... er.. wait for it... "Cuddle Party"
A link with more info can be found here,
I haven't pasted the article because of copyright:

Now this just strikes me as bizarre.... But then again, I'm not the touchy feely type

I am the touchy feely type, within limits, I won't go groping a stranger, you know? That seems weird to me as well. Very. I like cuddling and such, but thats making me think of something along the lines of PG-13 bordello.

Yeah, exactly.... just weird. However, I agree, whatever floats your boat, and they don't appear to be causing any harm.
@Magrus,
I know, it's the whole thing about touching strangers. I guess it could be very liberating if you could get past some of those issues. But, Hell, in RL I'm usually not even the sort to hug close friends, unless the circumstances are very specific.
i.e They're undergoing a very serious crisis. Or, upon greeting/leaving a friend I have not seen/will not be seeing for quite some time.

I just... I don't like the thought of being intimate, in any manner without knowing a person. I mean, if I'm out, and there's limited seating in the car, or a party, I don't mind a girl sitting in my lap. I don't mind giving someone a hug if they look like they need one.
Wandering up to a building, slapping $30 down and jumping into a pile of people to touch, kiss, and cuddle with a group of strangers. That sort of disturbs me.

If Mihalko is wrong, then the scores of people who've been paying him for the privilege of letting strangers spoon with them are really, really weird.
Yes, I think that says it all. Intimacy isn't intimacy if it's not done between people who are intimate. It isn't the gestures alone that make it intimate; it's also the people involved. If it's strangers, it's groping. On the other hand, if my wife touches my elbow it can be the most intimate of caresses. Mind, intimacy has many shades and colors, but those are reserved for people who have taken the time to actually know one another.
This kind of "trend" sounds like yet-another attempt in today's consumerist culture to get a result without effort.

And make some money while you're at it. We are a fast-paced society. We can order fast food, and now we can order a fast cuddle-orgy.
I remember seeing "cuddle parties" on Penn & Teller's BS (funny show on Showtime). I got to see most of what a cuddle party entailed. It just looks goofy, and frankly, there are just some people you don't wanna cuddle.

I'd be interested to see some of the people who attend these "parties" post in the
"Curious as to differences in responses with the sexes" thread.
