Jan died (AS USUAL) some time in the underdark while carrying part of vorpal and gesen bow string. when i raised him those two legendry pieces of an item were friggin gone. I vowed with this character i would find all pieces of every forged weapon. But damn I can't do that now. Oh well I got all the others and I suppose I can get thyem again while going through with a third character

No, not everything returns. I remember buying a staff plus something at a temple or something, and the character who used it died. I brought her back to life and got all of the stuff that was on the ground, but the staff was no where to be found. May I suggest keeping the items that need to be forged on your body...that way when you die, when you reload it'll still be there.

I wonder why it is that some of the items disappear. I mean, I could understand in BG1 when you couldn't find the Moonblade after Xan died, but it DID come back.

I wonder if the game has a memory leak somewhere? I once lost a whole character's equipment. After a tough fight in the Underdark against some beholders and wizards I revived Aerie but her equipment was just not there. I really searched, too. I had to go back to a save and fight the whole thing over again. No fun.

Why not save more often so you can replay parts where a party member dies?
