Shadow Altars

Post by jove46 »

I have arrived at the wind machine in the Shadow Altars Section, and I need to get the floating stone. I have been trying to catch this stupid stone for ages and those guardians don't help at all (I tried killing them but they seem to heal themselves). Now I'm getting frustrated. I'll be eternally grateful if someone has any trick that might help. Thanks

Guess what, the only way to kill those guardians is to get the stone. Only way to get the stone is to keep jumping and grabbing til you get it. Yes, that is a really annoying part. Personally, it is worse than that other puzzle where you have to leap across the columns to get to the other side before the portal close, while the columns are going up and down in water. This is because if you are not exact, you cannot get that crystal. It may help if you try backflipping around, as that was what I was doing when I finally snagged it.

Yes, Backflipping into the wind vortex is the only way I have been able to snag the crystal. Keep trying that if you can.

As far as the water jumping area (I assume you mean the triggered ones, where you have to jump across falling platforms and the gate closes if you hit the water), What you do is once you go through the portal from Kingston, you wait on the platform for the 4th (numbering the platforms from you to the other side, 1 through 4) platform to go down. Once it is down, you jump for roughly where the first platform is, then the second, then third, and fourth. Even if theyre not up yet, jump to the next, and it will come up if you do this correctly. A Time Slowing crystal is very helpful too, because it allows you the opp. to change course if you are just a smidge off. That's the easiest trial IMO.
You stare upon the perch,
The sight forces your somach's lurch.
The sight you see,
Is Death glaring back at thee.
You gave it a hum,
You let it run,
Now all you see,
Is the mirror that bleeds.

To get the shadow stone without backflip try the following. I just did this for my second time through and I got it on the first try. Start out just outside the door to the wind machine room. Move over to the left hand side and angle yourself to the right of the vortex as best you can. Run in at that angle and jump about halfway between the door and where the wind starts. Start clicking shift. Like I said this is the second time I've done this and it has worked for me both times. D

Hehe grats bud. Good luck with that bastard Nausolem or whatever his name is. Just don't fight near the wall :P out in the open is best for him. The scepter of shadows has a mean ass nuke. Was a big shocker for me when I first faught him, because First thing I do is go into a corner and make them come to me :P . That tactic didnt hold up there Lol.
