Fargrove lockdown trigger

I haven't seen this so far in reading the forums but leaving Fargrove the
first time does not cause the lockdown as I have recently left and finished
the Mage Quest and returned to Fargrove.

The lockdown is triggered from what I can tell when you enter Arindale
as this is the only thing that I have tried that got me locked out. I didn't
do much of anything in Arindale except wander around and buy a couple
of spells so nothing was accomplished except fighting my way to Arindale.

The trip to Arindale on the hard/more encounters settings got me to level
11 and required several rest breaks for my right index finger. I had over
ten thousand kills by the time I reached Arindale and I thought reaching
level 9 before entering Fargrove the first time on the hard/more encounters
setting was difficult. The lockdown in Fargrove forced me to revert to
an earlier save game that I was lucky to find in order to join the Celestial
Order so I would eventually receive the Paladin Quest. I now have to fight
my way to Arindale after I finish the Celestial Initiation Quest and return
to Fargrove to pick up the Paladin quest and I will probably also pick up
the Battlemage quest. I probably won't pick up the Battlemage quest until
after I have resovled the troubles in Arindale, completed my Paladin quest
and returned to Fargrove to open the city.

I would quit this game and toss it except for one thing and that is the I
love the fighting style where I have total control over my fighter. It is
an absolute riot when fighting 30 mixed monsters and the forward roll has
saved my butt several times.

The bows and the archery skill suck in this game no matter how many
points you put in the skill.

I have had patch 1.3 installed and there are still ton of bugs and spells
that don't work. The map is handy for just the immediate area you are
in as you can't see where you have been or places you have not been to
on your travels outside of your immediate area. I guess it is handy but
it sucks for this game.

Don't, Don't stand in the Shrine of Celestial Power while fighting moonbeasts
as they will not hesitate to enter the shrine. I had seen a post on the forum
that said you could safely stand in there or in the water and plink away
at the moonbeasts. The water is safe but it takes forever to kill one with
a bow no matter your skill level. I got caught fighting two moonbeasts
in the shrine whe another two showed up and it was time to head for the
water and hope they couldn't swim. I eventually loaded an earlier save
to fight two moonbeasts both on land and finishing them from the water.

The moonbeasts are the coolest looking and acting monsters I have faced
so far. I wonder if I can get one for a pet?

I am now running the same character in two versions both using patch 1.3.
The first version of my character is normal and will most likely be deleted.
The second version of my character is almost totally hacked down to his
armor, weapons, potions and potions. He I will play, as he allows me to
enjoy the only redeeming thing for this game and that is the fighting style.

I am looking for pics of the moonbeasts and any video pieces of them
fighting in the game files. I still want one for a pet as they are cool looking.

On the other hand, if you manuver around just right, all the moonbeats will be at one arch "entrance" of the shrine. And you, being the smart fighter, will be standing at that entrance swinging away at the poor creatures as they try to enter and kill you. Not only will they block each other from getting in, but they will also prevent each other from being knocked around if there are sufficient numbers, so that you can just keep swinging.

Bah! Hard/more right in the open! Fight to the death! Them or yours!

When I first did them hard/more, thats what I would do. Just go into the middle, run around in a small circle, kill what comes to me, and keep going until I die, then I cast the revive crystal, then continue fighting untill I get tired of dying. Made me feel valorous... and a wee bit special if ya get me drift :)

Dying? Never allow myself to die. Too damn stuborn I make sure that I can't just be got to. You could say that I play hardcore- if I die, I start over. I know it isn't the same for everyone, but I try to play it as if I need to do it right the first time. That is one reason I am critical about certain aspects of the game, like the lack of heraldries.

I was wrong on the trigger for Fargrove's lockdown.

I just discovered that I was wrong about what event triggers the lockdown
in Fargrove.

The answer is: When you accept to learn the 'Way of the Tiger' from Yoshi
Tamaka of the House of Tiger in Arindale that then triggers the lockdown in
Fargrove so you can return any time prior to that to finish other quests if
you want to.

I am lucky that I backup my save game before I accept any quest. I make
a new folder in the same folder that the Save game is in and label the folder
with the name of the quest and "B4" coming just before the name of the
quest. I have too many quests that I need to finish before I talk to
Emmindor in his tower in Arindale.

I'm not sure if the quests have to be done in any set sequence except
for finishing up your tier quests. I haven't come across anything on the
Forum that deals with the quests and whether you have to certain ones
before you finish your tier quests.

I do know that I have to visit Lord Graemare in Bolen Fields before I can
finish the second quest from the Celestial Order as the walkthrough says
that his quest is required for you to reach the Forbidden Lands. I do have
to drop a Crystal off in the Forbidden Lands and there is a Moongate there.

It's also posted somewhere here in the forum that acquiring a moonstone will lock down Fargrove. I assume this is because you could just activate the moon gate and enter at your leisure if they didn't script it this way.

You actually can accept the Way of the Tiger quest and still enter Fargrove. I was able to complete the Dragon quest ( give the egg to the House of the Tiger), and then complete the Saumari quest in Fargrove. I believe that as long as you don't talk to the woman in the Inn in Arindale, then you will be still capable of entering Fargrove, talk to her and the lock-down begins.

Moonstone doesn't cause lockdown.

Hi golden_efreeti, and thanks for the response.

I wanted to report back to the Celestial Guild in Fargrove on finishing my
Paladin Quest so I walked, ran, fought and swam my way to the 'Shrine
of Celestial Power'. I got lucky and only one Moonbeast showed up so
I dispatched him with my favorite lil spell then headed back to Arindale.

I tuned my moonstone to the Moongate in Arindale then saved my game.
I restarted the game and set the encounters the easy/fewer setting and
ran all the way to Fargrove. I tuned my moonstone to the Moongate by
the Mages Guild then saved my game and reset the encounters to hard/many
and then proceeded to fight my way to Arindale and back up to the Island
and killed enough Moonbeasts to pick up a level.

Check the walkthrough for Arindale especially # 8 The Great Tower the
last paragraph is where I found out that starting the 'Way of the Tiger'
quest is the trigger for the lockdown in Fargrove.

Hope this helps!

The quest does cause a lockdown, but only if you go to far along it. Like I said, I have tested this already, so this means if you want to really know, you'll have to try it yourself. You can accept the quest, but as long as you don't go any further with it, then you are fine. This means that you will be able to get that 2nd teir Eastern House guild if you want it before continuing the quest.

Not looking for 2nd tier.

Hounder, thanks for the response.

I'm not looking for a 2nd tier Eastern House in the Eastern House guild.
I am just trying to finish up my 2nd tier Paladin and Battlemage quests
before the lockdown. I can use the Moongates in Fargrove,Arindale,
north of Talendor and the Forbidden Lands to move around, rest up or
stock up on supplies.

I do wish that they would make it a litttle clearer in the walkthrough!
I reloaded the save before I accepted the quest and started on finishing
my second tier quests. I just lost a little time is all.

I have a question for you though and that has to do with how my postings
look because at times they definitely don't as formatted as they do using
MS Word. I would appreciate any ideas on the correct font as I use the
standard font when typing w/o using Word and they don't look like I typed
them and at times even when I use Word they still don't come out like I
typed them. Sometimes editing them after doesn't help.

Any Help?
