You've got a solid party that you could definitely finish the game with. If you continue having trouble with mage fights, you might consider trading in Valygar for Keldorn. His extra dispel magics are quite useful. More importantly, if you acquire the Holy Avenger later in the game, he's the only way you could make use of that awesome weapon.

Yep,that is a pretty good party indeed. But I personaly donĀ“t like Valygar much and thus-trade him for Anomen!Anomen will eventually get mace 5 stars(grand master)and will kill vamps and other undead easily.A lot of people dislike him however..don`t know why. There are more maces than bastard swords anyway. But it is all up to you i quess :D oh and by the way,he can cast the dispel and invisipility purge aswell, not to mention the cool lvl 7 spells.

Minor Spoilers Below

...

...

...

Valygar, Aerie, Minsc, Jaheira and Imoen (If you bring Yoshimo with you, this mean you're gonna recruit her at Spellhold, right?) are all great characters. However, Keldorn is slighty more useful than Valygar, with his Dispel Magic and True Sight innates. I would definitely recruit him if I were you.

If I were thinking of switching anybody it would be

Minsc for Keldorn (mainly out of personal dislike for Minsc) and Jaheira for Anomen (the same reason but with greater intensity and the added fact Anomen is a more useful character).

The continued popularity of Jaheira continues to amaze me. I can only assume people take her along out of some misty-eyed reverence for the original Baldur's Gate, in which to be perfectly blunt she was at best a middling character in terms of usefulness. In BG2 she is not only outclassed as a Fighter by many characters but also as a druid, by Cernd the dead-beat dad.

Lonelypilgrim is right about the effectiveness of Anomen, sadly many people are but off by his rather arrogant personality, yet strangely these same people are usually rather forgiving of the abrasive Jaheira?

As others have said Keldorn is useful, if not slightly smug in his moral superiority, but he does have some quite interesting interjections with Anomen.

By contrast Valygar is quite a reticent character, and while he does interact more readily with characters like Mazzy and Nalia, i honestly don't remember him interacting that much with many of your existing crew. You could consider a line-up like this ...

Sauron
Minsc - your comments seem to suggest you like him
Keldorn
Aerie - whiny but incredibly powerful so I can forgive her
Anomen
Yoshimo (replaced by Imoen *shudders at the thought*)

OK I've probably upset enough people, so I'll shut up now. :D

hmm..well,your idea is not bad Raven Song. But if your main charecter is a mage then you will defenately need jaheira. That is for the ring of wizardry. And she is a bg1 char afterall...old friend.
So my sugestion is:
Sauron
Minsc
Jaheira
Aerie
Imoen
Anomen
he he he...that is my patry exept for the main chars class :p

Your party really is fine enough as it is. You've got two mages (you and Aerie) and a third coming up. Don't ask me why or when you'll get the third, you'll discover it yourself. You've got one thief throughout the entire game, which is more than enough as well, one druid (Jaheira), one cleric (Aerie) and three fighters (Minsc, Valygar and Jaheira). There's no need to recruit Anomen, because you will have clerical and druidic spells in abundance. Remember, even Minsc can cast level 1-3 clerical spells later on.

With this party, you should be able to finish the game without too much trouble. If this is your first time through the game, then leave Jaheira, Minsc and Yoshimo in the party, they will greatly increase your gaming fun and help you progress through the game with more ease.

Right now you have a very balanced party and, frankly, I wouldn't change a thing. Not even Jaheira or Aerie because they whine too much. You will come to love them within no time, and cherish their powers. Believe me, both of the elves are two of the strongest NPC's available in the game. ;)

Thanks

there has been an alteration to my party, valygar is swapped for keldorn, I did this because of his damage and his spell disruption stuff. But when i face the shade lich i get him down to near death and he casts time stop and then some auto kill thing on the main character.

There are numerous good tactics.I usualy cast about 2 webs and then shoot fireballs until they die.You might also try using a potion of invunerability. and then just slash `em to bits. They are also affected by holy smite,so try that aswell.

Sauron, welcome to the forums. Please read the forum rules. We have a lot of kids and parents visiting us, so vulgarities are out--such as your last remark. ;) Please keep that in mind, for the future.

We would also appreciate it if you didn't reply "good idea!" after every post by another member. It bumps threads unnecessarily and without extra information. Let the good ideas accumulate, and when the thread comes to its natural end, feel free to thank everybody. Thanks, and again, welcome to GameBanshee.

EDIT: Per your suggestion in your other thread, this poll is closed.
