The timing is off

In the Hollowbrook the shovelhead kills Heather, and typically lives for another two seconds while I put a 30.06 in his right ear. The problem is that I'm there for a full 10 seconds before Heather gets killed. I've tried everything I can think of to take out the shovelhead before he kills Heather. I want to find a way to save my Ghoul! (short of actually letting her go). Does anybody have any clues? Please?

I had always assumed that saving her would be pretty much impossible. It seemed to be the "conclusion" of her storyline. You might try experimenting with instant kill disciplines or celerity in full form. But, my best guess is that none of that will work. Let me know if you find a way to save her.

I think it's just programmed to be like it....I once thought you might be able to have a different outcome by teaching Heather how to use weapons ( She tells you once that she thinks she is being followed and you can reply to her that you can teach her some tricks and even give her a gun ).

Is it possible to save her by sending her away ? Sure you loose your ghoul but you save her life....I never chose that option, so I don't know if she still will appear at the Hotel....

I'm 98.56% certain it's just to highlight to futility and tragedy of the Vampire way of life. You have Eternal Life, but it's always a curse... And any you bring into it with you, even for the best reasons, will inevitably be consumed and destoryed by it.

You do nothing if not consume and destory.

If you somehow could manage to save her, I'd imagine that it would end up like the Nosferatu you can save in the Warrens - them just standing there, with no dialogue or response for you. As penny has said, the death scene was clearly meant as an illustrative story element. There wouldn't be much point to letting her live.

That's what I feared. I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. I've found ways in other games to do things that everybody said was impossible, so the chance always exists. Maybe somebody found out eons ago and it's just so obvious to them they never thought to mention it. Thanks for the help anyway.

That actually made me angry. I was like "Hello, I just saved your life, aren't you gonna thank me?" And he said nothing, so I went about my business, grumbling: "Stupid ungrateful Nosferatu..." A simple "Hey thanks" would have been nice... or having him run away like a sissy...
Back on topic, I think the same thing would happen if you managed to save Heather, and while seeing her die is painful, having her just stand in one spot for the rest of her life is just sad and annoying. In my opinion, watching her die gives you extra motivation to kick some Sabbat butt. :D
