How do you backflip?

Hi everyone:
This is my first time ever using this, or any kind of forum. I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm stuck in the shadow alters secton - where you have to jump into a room with a wind tunnel and 2 shadow wraiths to try and grab the crystal- I have read to try and backflip into the room. Well for the life of me my backflip buttons don't work. It is S + spacebar? Any help would be appreciated.
