Since my Assassin file is screwed up, and I have to fight the drow, I created a Kensai, and I have some questions.

1.What level do I get to dual class him at? I want him to be a Kensai/Mage.
2.What weapons should I specialize in?
3.What fighting styles should I specialize in?

You can dual class as you reach level 2.

I meant what I wrote. According to the rules the game builds on, you can dual class your character at level 2.

In effect it means that you can dual class from the beginning of the game, because you start at higher then level 2.

The best level to dual class Kensai is 9.Then you will get very many bonuses.Ofcourse if you want to play more then the next limit is 12,then you will get a speed bonus aswell. The best class to dual into is mage.
Definately specialize in long sword and two weapon fighting.

Are you sure your attributes are good enough to dual class?
I can't remember the excat rules, but it is something like you need 17 in the first classs primary attribute as well as 16 in the secondary class primary attribute (or is it reverse...hmm...)

I just tried it out.I put strenght and intellect to 18 and got to dual class at the beginning.
But you need many different skills for a kensai/mage.If you get this, then it is very good:
Str-18
Dex-18
Con-18
Int-18
Wis-not important
Cha-10-18

It could be the low dexterity which is the issue? (I'm just guessing here - I'm at work, and haven't dual-classed in BG2 for a long time, so can neither test nor remember :D )

Poor Berethor, let 'ol Grampy-bone help ye. Best level to dual kensai to mage is level 13, level 9 is just a mage with more hit points. 13 you get a THACO of 1 and +2 to saves. You are right, you can not dual at level 2 because you start the game at level 7. In order to duel to a mage from a kensai, you need 15 strength and 17 intelligence. Check your stats. . .

Heh, well I have enough stats to dual class, but I don't know what level to dual class at. I gain ecperience slightly faster than Minsc, and In my assassin file, it took minsc until Underdark to become level 13, so I don't know what to do...

1. Depends. Are you soloing or playing in party? How strong a fighter do you want to be? There are three different levels that's good for dualing a kensai, imho. It's either

9 (9 level fighter @ hd, +3 attack/THAC0, +0,5 APR)
13 (9 level fighter @ hd, +4 attack/THAC0, +1 APR)
15 (9 level fighter @ hd, +5 attack/THAC0, +1 APR)

Mages gain levels slowly, so 9 or 13 is recommended here. If you're soloing, I'd say that 9 is the best since you regain your fighting skills faster. If you're grouping, you might want to wait to 13. That's totally up to you.

2/3. Weapons/Fighting styles are totally up to you. Personally I find Staff of the Magi and Staff of the Ram to be a nice combo for this kind of character. You can change them fast and one of them provides nice protection and abilities and the other is able to dish out tons of damage.

Needed for Dual-classing is:

Level 2
Human as Race
15 in your starting class' main attribute (In your case, fighter; 15 STR needed.)
17 in your dualed class' main attribute (In your case, mage; 17 INT needed.)

I've got enough to dual class, but If I dual class at level 13 it will take me forever to match that with a mage.

staves? I use dual long swords it has amazing THACO

I like using the happy dual class patch: you only need minimum attributes in the dual and first class. I think its more realistic.

what do you mean?

For example, you only need strength 9 to dual wield, not strength 15.
