Greeting All,
I'm new to BG (Christmas present), so I have a newbie question. I've been using Jaheira with a sling shot and a staff, staying in the background casting spells during combat etc. Somehow she became armed with a sword (I may have done it but I don't remember) but now I can't use any other weapons. Every time I try to change weapons it says something like "Magical weapon in use". How do I get her to be able to switch weapons?

Try using a dispel magic on her or rest and the magical weapon should 'go away'.

It's possible that the weapon is cursed. It would say that in the description of the weapon (from within the equipment page, right-click on the weapon). In that case, you'll have to use a "remove curse" scroll that can be purchased at any temple (I don't think dispel magic works, does it?).

Is it cursed? You get a red rhombus (always wanted to use that word in a post) on your portrait if it is. You need a remove curse spell/scroll.

Or did you cast flame sword (or whatever). This conjures a magical sword which replaces whatever you've got in your hands. It'll disapear and you'll get them back.

Don't do this to minsc while your carrying Boo.

I was inferring that she had cast a spell of some sort do not be so quick to criticise, i doubt Dispel does anything anyway, the best method is still to sleep then your plan of action comes into play

At the begining there was Aerie now is jaheira.I am expecting "torturing Jaheira" topic coming soon.
Jaheira start with ++ in slings, ++ in cubs + weapon and shield. That is bad, because there is only a good cub in the game. alternety we give her a simitar but it takes some time to get ++ in that.(staff is usless on her because to get ++ in two weapon and ++ in staff is imposible)
The "weapon has no efect" message is just that weapon fail to do any damage. the only way I got of this I buying that Sling on Juvul in the copper coronet.
when cast "flaming sword" or similar spells It creates a magical weapon that cant be remove.just whait for the spell end.

Thanks for the replies (some of them, any way), the weapon is a Scimitar (sp) and yes there is a rhombus (from Balor) indicating a curse(?). I'll try remove curse/dispel magic...also how long does Jaheira have to live after Balor throws the curse on her?
