Variation in a Mae'Var quest...

Mae'var told me to get a figurine from the Lathander temple...normally I had to retrieve an amulet from Talos' temple, is my alignment a reason? Well, I killed most guards in the temple and retrieved the figurine, later the guy from Helm temple gave me a quest helping Lathanders temple against Talos, but when I wanted to talk to the guy in Lathander temple he was hostile...

You got a quest from a thief guild to *steal* it
If you don't steal it but murder the whole temple you don't need to wonder about the reaction.
A thief would have waited until night when everybody sleeps, sneak in and just take that thing.
What was your alignment ????

My husband ran into the same problem. He was playing a good character (I don't remember the class), and was sent to the Temple of Lathander instead of Talos. However, he was having some trouble with his reputation score at the time (for some reason, it was dropping without satisfactory explanation), so we think that may have been a factor.

I dont't know if you did't mess up things.
We were never send to Lathander, but always to Talos to steal that amulet.
Are you really sure about your orders ???

Yeah, I was surprised too! He said get the figurine! Well, after I've killed the guys and opened the safe there WAS a figurine after all, and I gave it to Mae and he was happy...must have something to do with your alignment! If you are good=Go to Talos
If you are bad=Go to Lathander?!

Let´s get some things strait here.
1) Mae´Var quest is to STEAL the neakpice from the headmistrees of talos.NOT TO STEAL THE STATUE OF LATHANDER from the temple of Lathander.(to get the nackpice whait for the night and open the table in the room were she is sleeping or pickpocet the headmistrees in the day)
2)the quest that are being descrive here are THE PRIEST CLASS STRONGHOLD quest, the variations are for the diferent Kits of the prist class (HELM, TALOS and LATHANDER) and are the last ones for the stronghold.

I believe Maurice has run in to this problem. If you think this will help try searching for a topic with Maurice and the Temple Of Lathander. Sorry I couldn't help you no more than this.

I was chaotic good, had to get the figurine for Mae'var.
When you try to get the figurine make sure there's nobody near the safe (as in far far away), open it, get the figurine and walk out the temple.

yep i've done the quest both ways, stealing from talos and lathander.
when i went to steal the figurine from lathander, the dawnmaster was waiting by the safe in my sight range, so i waited for him to leave before i stole it, but there wasn't an alarm or anything, and no one turned hostile, my character was chaotic good.
when i went to steal from talos my character was good. i walked in and i found the person sleeping so i stole it from the chest, simple too.

At times, Mae'Var will in fact tell you to get your butt over to Lathander's temple and swipe the figurine. This could be either alignment (no idea chaotic or evil scale), or reputation based. Evil chars start off with a naturally lower alignment than LG chars (2pts lower IIRC). However, I have only tried the quest during day-time, and the statue is not on a person but in a safe. The safe is pickable, but you set off an alarm that turns the temple red. Maybe DT, will help you find the alarm, but I doubt it.
You know, you can just tell the guy in Helm's Temple, no, I won't do the quest.
