Weapon Questions

Post by bipbap »

Can anyone help me with two questions?

1. I thought I read somewhere on here that weapon speed factors were never implented in the game. Is this true?

2. On the description for 2 weapon proficiency, it says there are penalties, but doesn't say what the penalties are. Does this refer only to THAC0, or is it a damage penalty too?

Thanks for any help.

1. If you mean a two-handed sword having less strikes than a dagger in a combat round (which would be faster to swing), then no, I don't think it was implemented in the game.
2. It is only for the to hit rolls AFAIK.

Thanks for the info, especially so fast.

I was referring to the weapon speed number given in the weapon descriptions, but if I understand you correctly, you are saying these are not implemented.

Thanks again.

It may be, I'm not really sure. I just don't really remember any speed differences in-game, though they could be quite subtle.

speed weapons will affect who hits first, thus who gets first attack in melee

dual wield will affect thaco...which is the same as to hit rolls.

Speed Factor was never meant to be a determinent of how many attacks per round. It only effects which weapon acts first in a given round. It most definitely is implemneted in the game and is especially important if you are trying to backstab/attack someone/thing who is spell casting. All of the best theif weapons in the game have a speed factor of zero. - Curdis !
