now don't get me wrong, I love the idea of my own ghoul.....but where does this mysterious heather come from. I'll i know is that she lives with her grandmother and goes to fashion design school, but why was she in the hospital with ruptured organs???? do i suspect foul play? Maybe her background will remain shrouded in mystery forever. Anyways i guess im just obsessed with character origins. has anyone else come across the same thought?

I've wondered that as well. My guess is that the developer's probably wanted her origins to be mundane. The ruptured organs could have been by virtue of an automobile accident or some such thing. It's something we'll probably never know for sure, though.

Mousey type, so-so-pretty, eager to please, Santa Monica. Some abusive boyfriend beat her half to death. I fail to see the mystery. Five gets you ten he was the 'breakfast treat'.

Ha. Maybe so. Certainly, that would be a nice touch.

As simple as a random stabbing, or as complex as a move by the sabbat to have someone close to you. As mundane as a car accident, or as twisted as a delicate move in the jyhad. Either way... I think he desperation to please due to the blood bond makes her almost unberable.

It requires no blood bond to make a woman eager to please. Love her, please her, and be kind and generous to her. Nothing more is required.

Your reaction to Heather, however, does give me some insight into why some men hook up with women like that and then make a hobby out of beating them up. I never understood that before.

It's unclear to me as to what is just intrinsic to Heather's character, and what is caused the blood bond. Certainly, there are accounts of more reluctant ghouls, for instance (take Mercurio). It may just be that she's the eager to please type...anyway. Though, certainly that's enhanced by the bloodbond. And, certainly, she becomes quite unbearable in places...

*drly* Thank you, oh so much Yrth, for your insight. Remind me to date you and beat you a little ;)

When you have 5 ranks in the thautmaugry feat and you use it on someone they exploded from ruptered organs and blood vessels. Maybe a tremere preformed thautmaugry on heather and the thautmaugry wasn't completed.

I really don't think the damage came from thaumaturgy. There doesn't seem to be any in game evidence that she had any serious encounters with the undead prior to meeting you. Likewise, she surely would have died instantly from that kind of assault. I think the whole point of Heather was to show the corrupting and tragic affect vampiric existence can have on mortals.

Then again she does live in Santa Monica or somewhere abouts and those towns are'nt the definition of saftey...so maybe she got mugged or assulted by a gang of hoodlums. or was involved in a very intense cat fight. either way the dammage was caused and you saved her... and now shes as devouted as a puppy, and thats all that counts i suppose.

I just assumed she had been shot.

Does she really have the blood bond with the player though? During the loading-time information bits, it says that a human needs to drink blood from a vampire 3 times to get blood bonded. Heather only drinks it once

There are stages of addiction. While the blood bond isn't complete until a third drink, each drink of blood you have carries with it certain addictive principles. Among other thing, a ghoul becomes entralled by the way the blood makes them feel. They feel more "whole" and "powerful" than they ever have before. As such, they are anxious to have some more to keep feeling this way. Early on its more like the loyalty of a junkie who is waiting for their next hit. After the third drink, its a more total entrallment type of connection.

Oh, and has anyone managed to determine the full range of her wardrobe? The first time I asked her to change her appearance, I came back home to find a freaky goth chick waiting there. The second, she appeared to be roaming around in underwear of sorts. Interesting.

I'm pretty sure she only has 3 changes of clothing.

Yeah, there's just the three. She'll rotate between the outfits if you keep telling her to change.
