Is there ANY way possible for an xbox player, such as myself, could jointhe thieves guild after getting the code book for the fighters guild?

Sure it is!
Well,i have never tried it on Xbox but i am farely sure that it worked on my PC.It was a very long time ago but why should Xbox matter.
Have you got enough main attributes to get inside the quild?

thats the theory anyway... ive had trouble wit this.. i got the code book(not thru violence) and i have fine stats/attributes but they wont let me join

by the way.. i play on xbox too, but i dont think it makes any diff.

Xbox 2 does not exist.

As long as Sottilde is still alive after you finish the code book mission, you shouldn't have trouble joining the guild.

Just checking;

Have you spoken to Sugar Lips? She is the only one who let you join. Other guild members don't let you the member.

To answer all your questions:
1. I do have to skills and requirements needed.
2. I didnt kill Sottilde. I used to 'admire' persuation option to make her like me first then she gave it to me willingly.
3. I did speak to Sugar Lips. She said the same thing: 'We have our standards, Kahjiit, and you do not meet them.'

A friend says it could be because I am the leader of the rest of the factions and 2 houses( using special means) and that I am too public and official for them.

That's an interesting theory, and it is the sort of depth and subtlety I'd have loved to see implemented in the game.

But... I really doubt this to be the case. I suspect it is more to do with the fact that you got the code book, albeit though persuasion...
Though, I generally avoid the more questionable fighter quests by speaking with the master in the Ald Ruhn HQ, so I've never had a conflict. Hopefully there are other people here who can confirm whether or not the codebook is creating the problem.

That's the worst thing you can do, since there is no way to persuade the code book off Sottilde if you are in the Thieves' Guild.

I have joined both, and because I went through Thieves Guild quicker, I didn't even get the code book quest for Fighter's Quest.

No, I don't think it has anything to do with the code book quest. Dark Sage says he did not kill Sottilde, and he was told "you do not met our standard" suggest it is something to do with his skills or attributes. If it was anything to do with his association with Fighter Guild, the thieves guild members will be hostile to him, and probably says "I am not comfortable to talk with you about it" or something when he asks about joining.

@Dark Sage: Have you checked your attribution if you are drained or not? You could be diseased and lost certain attribution without knowing.

If not, I suspect it is a game glitch.

I usually join all the guilds I'm interested in immediately. There are some conflicts with fighters and thieves but they can be worked around.
spoiler yes you can pickpocket Sottilde for the codebook, it takes a few tries, sometimes as it doesn't always appear when you try it. And you can rise to master of both guilds, just make sure you talk to the right questgivers at high enough stats and rank

No I am not diseased and none of my attributes have been lowered by any cause.

I think it is probably a glitch.
