I completed all the sections except the last in the shadow ruins. The shadow gate which requires four runes to open shows one unlit.

The missing rune is the one on the upper left, red, a triangle with a circle around it and a large dot on the inside.

Apparently, I went through a section but didn't activate the rune.

Which section is it, and how do I get there from Lord Kingston's room ?

answered my own quesion

Turns out in the section with the two small moving islands, I fell into the pond, worked through that, and forgot to finish the section.

If it's worth the trouble, the walkthrough might indicate which rune is lit for each section of puzzles, so someone in my position will know which one to go back to.
