My main character is not gaining points. She is an half elf 14th level cleric (xp 1475000) and a 12th level ranger (1475000) I am playing the BGII Shadows of Alm -collecters edition. I also have the original and am having lots of problems with this version but none I haven't been able to get around until now. I am no sure why this version has so many bugs? Any ideas? Anyway if anyone can help with the xp problems I would appreciate it.

The actual experience cap for BG2 is around 2,850,000. So, you've probably just hit that. You can download certain experience cap removers at this
site. Likewise, if you have ToB the experience cap becomes around 8million (though I can't remember if that cap just goes into effect once you hit ToB content or not; if so, one of the more popular tweak mods must correct that.)

Like the post said above you have hit the experience cap my friend, so don't expect to gain any more experience until you graduate to the Throne of Bhall storyline. It's annoying I know.

It is v.e.r.y annoying to be capped out when I just finished fighting Bodhi for the last time and still have a ways to go. It kinda messes with your head knowing you have worked the entire game getting your people stronger and stronger to be told that is as far as you can go. I down loaded the EX cap remover and unzipped it but it is not working. I know enough about computers to get by but am lost with the details. Was I supposed to do something besides what I did. I unzipped the overide file just as it asked and even restarted the computer. Am I missing a step or something?
Thanks,
Ms Jenny Still

Exactly which x-cap remover did you download?

This one
Baldur's Gate II XP Cap Disabler 30kb
Download
An alternative to an experience cap remover, this program sets the experience cap to -1 and therefor disables it. Simply run the program and point it to your BGII "Override" folder
From the site given to me in one of the responses above.
Thanks,
Jenny
PS. Thanks to all have helped me.

Should have already said that!

I'd use
Ease Of Use instead... It has an XP remover... Chose components carefully, though.
You won't need it if you install Throne of Bhaal, though. There's no need to "graduate" SoA to gain high levels, you just need the installed expansion.
BTW, beware The Darkest Day... It's a great idea, but I thought it was poorly done... I'd wait a bit. They're working on a weidu (uninstallable, and upgradable) version.

Stramoski. I am not sure I understand. Do you mean if I have BGTOB loaded when I start a new game in BGSOA there wil be no XP cap? Also, I am afraid of anything where one has to carefully choose their componants. I would probally fract up the whole thing.

A) Correct! Install ToB anyway, (it fixes some SoA glitches, adds the Watcher's Keep, and the TAB Key)
B) I understand your hesitation, but when I say that you should choose carefully, I mean that many of Ease of Use's componants are merely helpful, and some are downright cheating. For example, the No Lock / No Traps componant removes ALL the locks and traps in the game... Very cheesy. But the unlimited stacking for arrows and such, I think is simply a timesaver.

Ahhh.. I understand. I went to the download site and lol, I thought the same as you. Bottomless containers are great but no locks or traps are definitely 'cheesy'. I am playing TOB now but am looking forward to playing from scratch again with all this new info. I am so glad I found this site. The people here make this very nice.
Thanks,
Ms Jenny

Have fun on your run through ToB!
And be sure to check out all the great mods on your next run through... They vary, though, so be feel free to check the stickies and post your desired modlist for suggestions and feedback.
