I just found fallout 2 with some other old games of mine and I have installed it and patch it and so on. But when I''m trying to play it keep telling me to put my CD in, well, I have! And it's original, no copy... I run on XP, may that be the problem?

Is there an autorun on the CD? It's hard for it to refuse there's a CD if you run the program from it.
Otherwise you could try the compatibility settings for the Fallout program (right-click on the icon click Properties and choose different versions of Windows under the compatibility settings) one of them may work.
Other than that maybe a reinstall would get it to recognise the CD drive.
Compatibility is probably the best option (that I can think of anyway).

uninstall it and instal using the Humongous (sp?) option (the biggest) and you won't need the cd at all. I'm running on XP with sp2 installed and no problems

what patch you used?
And are you sure that you don't try to patch it earlier patch than you current game version?
My game was patched to newer version beforehand, so I only need the patches after that. But you can try the patch 1.05 from
http://www.nma-fallout.com there should be any problem with that patch.
Your problem sounds quite strange. Is your cd scratched or dirty? that may affect a bit.
OH, and be sure to use correct version of patch. There is different patches to US and Europe versions. You should check that too. I think that's the problem. You have ie European version, and tried to patch it with US patch, and then the game tried to search US version of the cd, but didn't find it, only European version, and that's why it gives you that kind of error.
