I don't know how many folks remember The Two Ronnies, from the 1970s and 1980s (with Ronnie Corbett), but it was a very funny, gentle-humored British series with two outstanding comics. Barker was perhaps the better actor of the two; I've seen him in one or two other, non-humorous roles, and he was exceptionally good. After a life spent in the theater, he retired in the late 1980s to run an antique shop in the English countryside, and only ventured back to movies and television very occasionally.

He'll be missed.

I've been hearing a lot of extracts from his work on the radio this evening. The "class" sketches from the Frost programme were good (with John Cleese and Ronnie Corbett) He was a truly funny man

I remember watching "The Two Ronnies," with my parents years ago....

They were wonderful... Right up there with Dave Allen, though in a slightly different vein.

A sad loss. My favourite Ronnie Barker series was "Porridge", a comedy series set in a dour prison environment, with Barker playing an old lag, Fletcher.

Delivering newspapers this morning, I noticed not one of them didn't have some kind of tribute[or notice] to him on the front page. I think that a lone pays homage to him, as a comic genius. I'll never forget the first time I saw his hardware store sketch, and it is one of the few things that makes me laugh, without fail every time I see it. He will be missed.

Agreed :) Although 'Open All Hours' was another fine comedy I would watch if I caught it. RIP
