I have reached the demon at the end of the temple and remember the way to kill it is to heal it.. I am a kensai/thief, so i can't even use a scroll ;p Did i waste my time only to have the 47kxp hovering in front of me?

The gloves of healing from the fallen Paladin quest can be the way around this. - Curdis !

Also the innate ability of cure light wounds.

My kensai/thief cannot use the gloves, and does not have any innate cure wounds abilities ^^

Alas the staff of healing wont help a Kensai/Theif either. You have to go and get a helper NPC just for this one bit. Sorry. - Curdis !

Or turn into a mindflayer and use the ability to drain his intelligence. That will kill him for sure.
Or turn into a mindflayer and use the ability to drain his intelligence. That will kill him for sure.
Can a Kensai/Theif shapeshift?
I've given this one some considerable thought (sad I know), and there are two possibilities:
1/ Don't know if this will work, for sure (I haven't tried it) but there are some weapons (can't think of them off the top of my head) which drain ability scores (Much as the mindflayer). You could try this.
2/ Definitely will work. Wait until you get Higher Level Abilities [HLA] (Must have ToB installed) and the theif's Use Any Item [UAI] will make the gloves and/or staff work. - Curdis !

There is the innate ability if you gave enough wisdom.
isnt the only way to turn to mind flayer with the lvl 9 spell shapeshift?

Use cheese. The item swap cheese. Then you can cast healing from scrolls. Voilá, no need to use a single henchmen.

I'm not sure if they can turn into a mindflayer, however I do believe this topic has come up before, and it was proved that they could to that to beat them.
The other ability score draining weapons weren't as effective and required you to do it in a certain time before they returned.
And Luis, I'm not sure whether yours would work, because if the scroll is redded out, then it can't be put there... unless I'm thinking of something else?

I think any character can use the Rod of Resurection, just get it from the lich in the bridge district and recharge it.

Yeah, that sounds like the best option to me.
Alternative of course being to come back late in the game, when you're getting high level abilities (assuming you have TOB), with the Use Any Item ability taken...then you can do whatever you want.

Other Rods of Resurrection
You can also loot a Rod from Merketh when freeing Haer D'alis. If all else fails you can buy one from Ribald.

How is the rod supposed to work? It brings people back to life and how is that supposed to help?

It will also completely heal any living characters, as well.

I thought that was Greater Restoration?

Greater restoration does fully heal as well.

Just tested the rod of resurection and it works no problem at all.
I would never have thought of it so it just goes to show...(It also makes me look pretty foolish for the time I had Keldorn specially in the party so he could do the healing. You know paladin lay on hands -"What do you mean you can't lay on hands!!?, Oh well your big enough level cast a cure light... So then I went and got the gloves via the paladins quest. I wouldn't feel quite so stupid except I had the rod in my quick use slot all that time....) - Curdis !

I think I read about it in UU's cheese guide a while back... It's extremely handy. Unlimited range for in-party people, and a full heal. Lock a weaker character somewhere safe, then send in a 100+ hp character into melee, and have the weak guy heal him at around 10hp...
