Unlabeled spot in Vale of Ruin

Post by Gobatcha »

After completing Dreadoth Temple I went south and checked out all the little valleys in the Vale. I got to one valley on the south west side that showed a light greenish square in my automap, but on the screen there wasn't anything special around. I looked around, jumped, rolled, and backflipped, but it made no difference. Whatever the automap is showing won't show up in my game.
Anybody have a solution?

congrats !

Thanks for checking that green square. As I said, my first time there was a grove there and a number of walking trees. Not being too strong, I ran. This time there was nothing.

I see from your other posts that you slammed right through the shadow ruins. Hey, congratulations! I'll bet you had the shortest first passage around.

Try out Nauselom's weapon ... I forget the name, but it's a wand, not the staff you killed him with. I just walked through the Daedroth temple with it, and it may be the best weapon I've had. It's both ranged and melee, and if you hit, it throws your opponent back. Easy to see why he was so tough!

On the demon key, I found a saved game just before that door, and tried a number of variations, but no soap. If you don't kill the Naga, they kill the thief (he doesn't drop the key). If you do kill them, he just has the same dialog, runs around behind the big platform (NOT to the dungeon door) and disappears.

My guess is that it depends on something previous, such as talking to somebody somewhere. I still have the saved game, so if anybody can think of anything, I will try it.

It's a bug. The square represents the altar of fire, but they put it in the wrong place.

Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

Fire Sword / Altar of Fire?

So..er..? swcarter, Sir? Where *is* the right place? I have the Fire Sword from the Elves in Arindale (for the first time) but I can't find the Forge that I'm supposed to bring it to to add the Fire charge to it. Is there another forge that I can bring it to the charge it? (I was in the Vale, and the map shows a square, but there doesn't appear to be anything there except endless bad guys. Which isn't a bad thing, but I *would* like to find that forge.)

Off to try the Rune Forge...

The Altar of Fire is north of that square. I don't think you can climb the mountains there, so you'll have to go east out of that area, then north, and west again.

That sword sucks, by the way. By the time you get to the Vale of Ruin, there are far better weapons available to you. Also, if you return it to Hall of Weapons, you only get 500 back. However, you should be able to sell it for more than 2k.

I just went there. It is the Rune Forge, and it does nothing for me. It didn't give me the Fire Strike....? OOops.. I lied. I did go the Rune Forge, but that was in the NORTHERN FOREST!

Ahh...you mean, in the Vale of Ruin, head north.....? Toward the Draed? I'll search there. :-) Thank you!

I'm not going to sell it. I like it. With the Fire Strike it works well against those things that don't like fire.. :-) So, yes--I did manage to find the Alter of Fire, thank you. It was indeed North of where the map shows it. I was quite pleased! It's nice to have those little 'firsts', now. :-)
