Ive always wondered just how the jedi/sith activate their lightsabers. Do they use the force to activate it or do the sabers have little buttons on them?

i say there is no force theres a button they activate to use the force to push the button to ignite the saber and then proceed to dismember people who were just a littl drunk in their local pub... they reall are evil, look at obi wan, the first timehe meets a guy in a pub whos not normal, he amkes him go home and rethink his life via nxious fumes emited form his finger tips when eh presses a button, the second time we are shown him meeting a nefarious character in a bar, he again presses a button and then cuts off his arm at just the right place to kill him, why why od jedis kill drunks but not durg dealers? those damned paece loving fools! :( :D

And lightsabers were also detailed in the SW official guide to equipment (which my younger brother got back when he was a Star Wars freak; can't remember the exact title at the moment). Definitely had some very technical portions to it (adjustment levers, activations buttons, etc.).

How does Yoda reach said button with his stumpy green fingers?

It must be the force that activates the button which tells the light to form a saber when then proceeds to kill and dismember innocent drunks at said local pub.

EDIT: I think it was the button first, cause they needed something for the force to push :D

I think it was the force first, because the force is in the button :D

It is the force, because the force is everywhere, all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-seeing. It can even see BS huddled in his cell while gazing feverishly at his computer... :p

In this case, no buttons required :D

Yikes, this is getting a bit serious! But I have to agree, it's definitely a button--remember in Empire Strikes Back, Han Solo uses Luke's lightsaber to cut open the taun-taun. And as we know, Han had a lot going for him, but a heap of Force points was not among them. :)

No, Han was a dark jedi in disguise, vaders apprentice, all he did for the alliance was a carefuly calculated order from vader. Dont you think that Han would have noticed a tracking device put on his ship? an experienced space pirate as him would have. And why dont you think he shot vaders tie to kill him and not just to send him spinning to a preplanned rendevous? its a conspiracy i tell you! A conpiracy!

Its not the force that tells it to form a saber, but a crystal inside the hilt that generates the color and beam.

As far as I know, lightsabers were customly designed and made by the jedi who uses them.

So I guess Yoda's digits shouldn't be a problem.

Yes, I think there is a button to switch the saber on. :)
