A dilemma...of sorts.

Hi... just joined in.

I re-installed this gem of a game, and wanted to start as a bard. One problem though: I wanna try that class from a role-playing standpoint, and none of the official bioware kits seem to fit into that role. I started as a chorister (Who gets some decent divine spells for 1/2 lore and pick pocket, doesn't get much and doesn't lose much).

The thing is, I feel like making god-fearing, righteous men and women party but two characters irk me there - Anomen and Aerie. Shall I persist with them (for I do know they get powerful in the end :D )?

i like aerie because she becomes really powerful as long as she does not get attacked in melee lol. anomen is a bit annoying though. only ever used him once

Perhaps your main character should be a Cleric or a Cleric/Mage. I'm not sure which Bard abilities you would miss, but even characters who aren't Bards can sing if you want them to, you know. :)

Another option is to take Jaheira with you. She's a Neutral character because she's a Druid, but she is written as a Good character. (By the same token, her Charisma is 15 because that's the minimum requirement for a Druid, but she's written as if her Charisma was 8.) If you don't mind doing some editing, you could make her a Neutral Good Cleric/Ranger and she would still be a Druid of sorts because she would have all of the Druid spells.

A more radical option is to create a multiplayer game and create a second character of your own to suit you. Or you could alter Aerie or Anomen's soundset to remove their more annoying responses. I've never heard of a mod that gives you the chance to play a chorister, but for all I know, there might be one. I'm sure with the right approach, you can play the kind of characters you are looking for.

Good luck!

I always found Anomen to be pretty amusing--I know I'm in a minority. He does have some interesting personal quests, and esp. if you're playing a straight-arrow character yourself there's opportunity for you to have some interesting interaction with him. But that goes for most of the NPCs, too.

last time i played i had anomen, jaheira, aerie and keldorn along with (eventually) imoen and my pc who was a mage. i've never had a party with so many cleric/paladin/druid type characters and it was really good fun and quite a bit different to my previous run through it where i had 4 mages (my pc, aerie, imoen and nalia) together with jaheira and minsc. i'd recommend aerie and anomen in a god-fearing party as they both make huge differences in battles in my opinion, apart from the fact that anomen just annoys me so much (personality wise, as a party member he is one of my favourites to use in battle)
