When my party leaves the underdark and talks to eldan, they're attacked by harpers and the elves turn on them, so i can't talk to eldan again or attack the elves, as my party gets killed. what can I do?

It sounds to me as though you have Jaheira in your party, and that you did not completely finish her quests before heading off to rescue Imoen.
Still though, you should be able to easily handle that battle after emerging from the Underdark.. It's not that difficult
Or, are you saying that you have some kind of bug and your party automatically dies when you surface, without a fight or anything else?

No,the elves attack and if you attack them, your party is killed automatically, eldan also attacks so you can't talk to him when you get the lantern from bodhi.

OKay.. that shouldn't be happening, I don't think...
First of all, do you have both the official Bioware patch and the Baldurdash patch? If you don't already have them installed, I strongly suggest doing so.
Secondly, are you running any mods? If you added them in the wrong order (especially if you didn't install the patches), that could have caused scripting issues.
Thirdly, if you are running mods, some of them can apparently conflict with Weidu-based mods...
If none of the above applies, I'd say you have a serious bug...

IIRC, any battle within that area gets the elves attacking you. I think it happened to me too - one of the battles caused by the random appearance of a hostile Harper. I either ran out of the elves sight or exited the map. The only problem with the latter is that it may affect the Jaheira plot, but I don't think a battle has to be won to progress it.

Hmm...
would it work if you removed Jah from the party just before exiting the Temple?
Though... that would probably screw up her quests, especially if she is your romance. Perhaps Shadow Keeper or the console would be able to deal with that, I'm not sure.

Not only might that screw up the quests, she may completely disappear as her former allies are after her. I think just avoiding the battle itself is the best option, unless ShadowKeeper can be used to delay the battle or something like that.

For some reason I saved a seperate file before exiting the underdark, I'll remove Jaheria from the party and see what happens, it also gives me another chance to not anger a dragon for killing it's eggs

Maybe its the dragon spell that's making that mess. She may trigger the atack on you when you reach teh surface, aye?

Do the harpers attack immediately? Perhaps you could just ctrl-y them before they (and more importantly the Elves) turn red?

This is a known bug I've read about. Jaheira is supposed to be attacked by Harpers, but if it happens on that screen, the Elves there turn hostile as well, preventing you from ever being able to complete the game.
It's either the official patch of baldurdash fixpack that fixes this bug. Reload an earlier save after installing these. You should have no problem after that.

That'd be my recommendation. Even if the Harpers appear as Hostile if you're quick you should be able to pause before the Elves turn as well.
