Ring of Nondetection

What's the difference between the Ring of Non-detection and a Ring of Invisibility? With Invisibility, you can be detected if someone casts a detect spell. But does non-detection make u "invisible" to the naked eye?

Non-Detection doesn't hide you from sight on it's own. It makes you immune to spells that detect whether you're invisible, so it's best used in combination with a spell like Invisibility or better.

There is very little use for Non-Detection, as no NPC spellcasters that I'm aware of actually try to dispel invisibility.

About the only area where it might be helpful is against certain axe-wielding warriors who can see invisible creatures. I haven't tried it, so I don't know for certain that it works.

Non Detection

You are so right Aerich. Non-Detection has been basically neutered in IWD 1 In several run throughs I have seen absolutely no benefit. When invisible, my characters have NEVER been detected by anyone or anything except those few creatures that can naturally detect invisible. In those cases the cloak of non-detection did nothing to help. Like wise, I have seen no benefit from using the spells "detect inivisibility" or "purge inivisible". There were places where I knew there were theives hiding. But neither spell worked and according to the descriptions they should have. So it appears that invisiblity has MUCH more power than intended in IWD.

Than you Everyone for your insight

Well, I guess you all have answered my question. I'm going to chuck (sell) the ring of nondetection at the pawnshop - lol.

Go right ahead. :)

The ring (Ring of Shadows?) is useful in the early game for the bonus to stealth for rangers or thieves, but once your scout is high enough level, the ring should be traded in for the cash to get something better.

At the last battle of the game Isair will turn invisibel and attack only the one
that he can see.If all your team is fighting with invisibility then the one with non detection cap or ring will not be attacked!

This is IWD1 + HoW, not IWD2. IWD1 = no use for non-detection.
