Installation Trouble

First, apologies ;) I know this has been covered in other threads. But, for some reason my ISP is cutting in and out on me, so I'm constantly being interrupted in my search..

Anyway, I decided to install BG1 on my computer. I insert disk 1 into my drive, up pops the option to install, and thus I click. My computer whirs and clicks for a few seconds, and then nothing. I tried hitting the drive icon in "my computer" but that didn't work either. *sigh*

*I have XP Home with SP2
*I have an Nvidia FX 5200 graphics card
*I have no problems installing other disks
*I have the 5 CD pack (+TOSC)
*My discs are not scratched or dirty
*The game just installed on my partner's laptop which also has XP Home with SP2
*I successfully installed the same disks on this computer several years ago... I'm pretty sure that would have been without SP2
*I do not even get an error message. Simply put, once I click on "Install," nothing happens except a few noises that come from somewhere within my computer's bowels.

My guess is that my computer is not reading the disk for some reason that I can't fathom.

*Finally, while I am semi-computer literate, and can do a reasonable amount, I am not a techie, so I'd very much appreciate it if any explanations or suggestions were phrased in straightforward, lay person's terms, thanks. ;)

EDIT

Um... never mind... I tinkered around for a while and finally got it to work...
