Need some advice!

Hi all! I'm new at these forums and new at fable-tlc. I just came to the part with the earth troll-anybody has any tips on how to kill him? I so suck at dodging

he always hits me
And when I use lightning-is there any way to aim it directly at the troll? Cause sometimes it hits him, and sometimes it goes into some random direction

A good technique that might take some time to master is hitting the rocks back at him with your sword. If that fails, keep attacking him until and move out of the way before he slams his fists in the ground. Once, you figure out the trolls timing, you'll be unstopable.

You mean with the sword? I tried with the ranged weapon but that seriously sucked
Only sword and lightning did some damage. The most I achieved was to get his health down the half. Guess I gotta try harder

Yes use the sword. The best method is the hitting the rocks back at the troll with your sword, but for me it took some time to get the timing right.

I have another question-what do the numbers in the brackets mean? (see attachment)

ya, for sure try the slow time skill. that is by far one of the best. when you start it up get behind him, and start hitting him in the back. this will give you more time before he hits you with his fits or rocks.
as for the parenthesis i'm not really sure.. if i was to give my best guess... the one next to the cost tells you the items total worth. putting the numbers in green if the merchant is selling it for less than its worth, and red if he's selling it for more. (number to the left is what he's selling it for). and next to the dmg for the weapon i'm guessing its either adding or subtracting dmg from the total.

but i dont know why they'd even add it in there.

I think kaya has the right answer for the top number. For the bottom number, it's the difference in damage between the selected weapon and your equipped weapon.

Oh, thank you! That helps!
I've got some more silly questions-please bear with me
In order to open the demon door by the Greatwood Caves I need to get my combat multiplier higher-but I'm not sure where to look for this..

I saw two icons appearing at top left of the screen occasionally, but which is the multiplier?
And what's alignment modifier? (see another attachment)

Spoiler.
Try using Physical Shield and Berserk with the Earth Troll. Makes short work with most mobs.
The + means it adds to that value
The - means it subtracts from and item.
Example if said item is
+20 Attractiveness. It adds to your Attractiveness by +20
If it says -25 Attractiveness. It subtracts 25 from your current attractiveness score.

Off hand, I can't think of what the second number might be. But the combat multiplier is the white number surrounded by a white circle. As the multiplier decreases, the circle around the number drains away in a counterclockwise fashion. It's important to keep your combat multiplier high because all experience you gain (including drinking experience potions) is multiplied by it.

Perhaps the other one up the is either the experience value.
There are four types of those:
Green - General experience, you will always get this after orbs
Red - You get this for using melee, eating red meat, or drinking the right potion
Yellow - You get this for using ranged attacks, eating carrots, or drinking the right potion
Blue - You get this for using a spell, eating fish, or drinking the right potion
Hope this helps.

You guys are great
I saw someone at the forum mentioning a title vendor at the heroes guild-is he there all the time or only from a certain point in the game? (cause I can't find him)
I'm so sick of everyone calling me chicken chaser

As far as I have found, the vendor is always there. He is not always in the same spot though, so you may have to look for him. Generally, there are about 5 people outside the door of the Guild to listen to your boasting. Look through the crowd - the vendor is outlined in green. Of course, many of the vendors are not available at night, so it may be better to look for him during the day.
In reference to your earlier question, I had problems with the troll too. My first strategy was to prepare a fireball, approach until he popped up, hit him with the fireball, and then run away. But this took forever. As someone else said, it works better to run up and get behind him. I found I could not run behind him (he will turn to face you each time), but if you roll behind him, you can get into position to whack him from behind. He will tolerate this for awhile, then jump up in the air and launch a ring of stone around him. If you roll back away from him as he starts to jump, you will avoid this attack and still be behind him to attack again.

Oh, I thought the only vendors were those two guys inside
I'll have to look better then
And I killed the troll..but not in the darkwood-something..this one was somewhere in the greatwood.. I used the slow-time spell and hit him with the sword..worked like a charm

hmm..hope the one in the darkwood-something isn't stronger

(they are the same, aren't they :mischief: )

He's not actually inside the guild. He's outside, right next to the front door.

Where do I find the slow time spell? Thanks

You don't find spells at merchants. You "buy" them at the experience shrine in the Heroes' Guild.
