Can't get Camarilla ending *possible spoilers*

Hi all,

I've got a problem - I've played the game to the ending several times but the only ending options I ever been given is as a lone wolf, siding with the Anarchs or with the Prince. I would like to see the other endings too, especially the Camarilla. I was nice to Max and didn't tell Issac about the Gargoyle and told him about the Plaguebearers.

Have I missed something? Are there quests that I shouldn't carry out? I've been doing every quest just to get the XP. Very confused. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

I know that there are some options of different wording you need to choose, and it took me a while to figure out how to get the correct ending, but this walk through may help: Out for Blood

While experimenting, I noticed that Max got very upset when I told him I was already looking into the Plaguebearer problems for the Anarchs. I did not play that through into the endgame, but I imagine you openly admitting to him that you work for the Anarchs could end your chances of siding with him.
Max seems to appreciate discretion a lot.

Normally only the betrayal of Max's secret to Isaac will cut off the road to the Camarilla ending.

But it requires a bit of good dialogue choices to get the ending. Avoid the anarch and go-it-alone answers. This means that in the beginning you probably have to choose the prince answers, but at a certain moment you should get choices that lead you to the camarilla and Max.

i've only done the camarilla ending once and that was when i was a tremere so i spent the whole game sucking up to him and siding with him cos i wanted my haven. i think you just have to not anger him too much and not betray him to get it. if you agree with him a lot about stuff he goes on about how much promise you have etc.

Thanks alot!

I'm still working on it at the moment but I've been very rude to the Prince, Ming and Damsel. Which was all very funny as I've only been a more or less polite vampire up until now. :laugh:

Finally! I got it! I didn't think I had at first but talking to Mr Taxi Man I managed to choose thee right dialogue options. I did get a cold sweat to begin with though when my choices were firstly just Anarchs and lone wolf. :speech:

Thanks again!

same thing happened to me when i went through as a gangrel. at first it looked like i could only go solo or anarch then all of a sudden all possible endings came up at one time or another after a few choice dialogue selections (my gangrel couldn't be bothered with the politics so ended up not annoying anyone lol).

congrats on getting the ending. its my second favourite ending cutscene wise after the solo one.

No matter what I do, the only option given to my Ventrue is the lone wolf. (?!) I didn't betray Max to Isaac and I've completed the 'regents riddle' quest (or so the journal indicates). In all dialogues I've tried to take the Camarilla side and I was fairly rude to Ming Xiao, so I understand that I don't get offered the Anarch or Kuie-Jin endings. However, I did expect to be offered the Camarilla (no LaCroix) ending. :mad:

I forgot to mention that I have both the official patch (1.2) and the unofficial one (3.2).

I think I found the problem while snooping around in the cab drivers dialogue (caine.dlg). There is a logical error on the early part of the dialogue, after this line:

It sounds as if there are many who seek to sway the children of Caine to their side... many who believe they shape the destiny of the blood. You work for Prince LaCroix, don't you?

The reply options given to your character are: 1. Side with the prince; 2. Side with the Anarchs; 3. Side with Ming; and 4. Lone wolf. There is no option to side with the Camarilla available at this juncture. Since my character has closed both the Anarch and Ming options, by being rude to them and hasn't been kissing the prince's ass hard enough, she's offered only the Lone Wolf option.

If you are able to choose either of Anarchs or the Prince options you can switch to the Camarilla ending in the next dialogue block. No such luck with the Lone Wolf or Ming. Or so it seems after a fairly quick look at the dialogue.

I looked up the variables that allow you to have the Camarilla ending and my character meets the requirements:

G.Regent_Pissed = 0 (not = 3 was required)
G.Regent_Introduced == 1
G.Isaac_Please == 0

There are basically two paths to getting the Camarilla ending.

1) You've been polite to LaCroix. In this case, you can tell the cabby that you think LaCroix really has the city's best interests at heart. Then, if you haven't betrayed Strauss' secret, the Cabby will suggest to you that you can be part of the Camarilla but you don't have to follow LaCroix if you don't want to. That leads you to going to see Strass.

If you have politely followed all of LaCroix's instructions to the letter without question, then you'll probably make a great Camarilla lackey. But, the cabby tries to convince you that LaCroix is only out for himself, and that there might be a better option for a leader.

2) You've been polite to the Anarchs. In this case, you can tell the Cabby that you're done with LaCroix and you should have backed Nines from the start. Then, if you haven't betrayed Strauss' secret, the Cabby will suggest that you can be part of the Camarilla but you don't have to follow LaCroix if you don't want to. That leads you to going to see Strauss.

The Anarchs are less stringent than the Camarilla, and they don't follow all it's rules, but for the most part they do abide by the Masquerade. Their idealism is admirable, but they are greatly outnumbered by the Camarilla. Their cause may well be a lost one. The cabby suggests that if it's just LaCroix you're sick of, you could depose him and put somebody else in charge of the LA Camarilla.

I don't think it's a logical error. More like a missing option. One where you're fed up with LaCroix, but you don't want to join Nines either. You could duplicate the lone wolf option and make the duplicate take you to the same place that either the Prince or Anarch options do.

Heh... I'm not a native speaker, so I'm not going to start arguing on the difference between 'logical error' and 'missing option' in this case. Basically, yes, what I wanted to say was that I think that there is an option missing there. IMO it doesn't make any sense and seems like a bug. I was roleplaying an ambitious and proud Ventrue who respected those that she found worthy (Max, Isaac even though she found him misguided), but had little patience for weak leaders (LaCroix), hotheads (Nines, Damsel & co.) or people who skew up (Mercurio). Needles to say that she utterly despised the Kuie-Jin.

I felt that was just so disappointing and illogical that the reply options presented were so limited at the end. It felt like a bug since that is essentially a roleplaying game and if you don't have reply options available that would even remotely fit the character you're playing, it feels like a bug or an serious oversight. Especially since I wasn't even stretching the game setting by any means with my choice of character.

Ultimately I worked around the issue by kicking the G.Prince_Reaction variable up so that I could access the reply option leading to the LaCroix ending and worked my way to the Camarilla ending from there. I just think that the Camarilla ending should be presented right away with the others if your character meets the requirements (ie. essentially is on the good side of Max).
