patch help

Guys - I could use some advice. I've held off till now to buy this game because the reviews of bugs/patching etc. I'm thinking of giving DL a try.
However, being physically disabled and not computer savvy, I don't want to run into "patching headaches". Buying online doesn't tell me the version of DL up for sale. I've read where 1.1 > 1.3 is easy to do, but 1.2 > 1.3 is a hassle(... for those of us not computer savvy).
I can get a 1.0 version.
Could I patch that/1.0 to 1.1 and then patch that to 1.3 ?
Or should I try and find a 1.3 version. The website said they are available retail ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I did read the other threads; at least 6 pages back, and noticed the 1.2 > 1.3 patch thread. I was a bit confused. So, I'm trying to find the path of least patch resistance.

The patch 1.3 do the upgrade from any previous vertion. But I am talking about the French patch 1.3. I suppose that for other languages it works the same.
About the French patch, despite you can select various language at Dream Catcher site, if you select French on their site and then go to support section to download the 1.3 patch in fact you DON'T download the French 1.3 patch.
I have found the french patch by looking arround on the net and searching something like: Dungeon Lords 1.3 French and found it ( a file named dlords_1.3_french.exe).

Kenrenk - thanks for the reply.
I re-purchased the game. Yep, I was so disgusted by my pre-order, I gave my original game to charity. Was that, or break it in two and toss it into the garbage.
I wasn't sure on the version, and I wasn't going to give Dreamcatcher another $45, so I found a 1.0 used.
I downloaded both the 1.1 and 1.3 patch from the DL site.
It says self extracting ?
I'm hoping they are because I still don't know how to install .zip file patches ... like I said, "I'm not computer savvy"
But, after reading the posts on this forum, I think DL might be worth another try.
I just hope I didn't throw good money after bad.
Now, I just have to hope the patches are self extracting ... I'm not not about to hire someone for $50hr to show me how to patch a game
Then again, I have about 5 games with .zip file patches. So, if push comes to shove, I may have too :-(
Being physically disabled and playing 8-9hrs each and every day, I go thru games like crazy ... I've resorted to replaying games over and over
Why I've gravitated to RPG from FPS: the replayability.
Anyways, thank you for the post.

Myself I installed the 1.3 (French) on the 1.0 coming from the CD. It's an installer that just ask you to select the right folder but pre-select it for you so there cannot be a more sample patch!
Have fun and push the game further than the first dungeon. Replayability works very badly for me but with DL it is working well.

Well I held off buying the game too because of the crap reviews.
I finally broke down and bought it and I'm really glad I did. It is a great RPG with ton's of interesting things going on.
The initial retail version was broken though, and I played a bit of it and was horrified at the bugs and nasty game problems.
The 1.3 patch solves most problems, though not all. But 1.3 is definitely a really enjoyable experience (except for the odd stupid jumping puzzle for which there are fixes in this forum).
Anyway, my advice is to buy it on eBay (you can pick it up for $15) and ask the people here to help you through installing the patch if you need help - yeah the patch is a bit whacked too - and so if you're not computer savvy don't worry about it ... you soon will be LOL
Anyway its a great game, full of fun and humor and depth, as you would expect from DW Bradley.

William Bobo - oh god, don't tell me the patch is bugged
I'll be back if I run into trouble.
GameBanshee is by far the best RPG forum.
I'm about 1/3 way thru Diablo 2: LoD.
Think I'll give DL a try after Diablo.
DL might even have patch 1.4 out ?
Hopefully they get the game near as perfect as was originally hyped.
I can tell by the posts here, the members are very helpful + the game seems to be "shaping up"; so to speak ...The big reason why I re-bought it
Thanks for the post.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
