Lemme know what you think:
femal drow monk 2/paladin 2/cleric or ilmater 26
(should I go monk 3 for still mind?)this is my cleric/tank
deep gnome rogue 1/monk 2/cleric of bane 1/illusionist 26
(maybe i will add one level to monk(still mind), and cleric (no xp penalty)and two to rogue(better sneak attack) and end up illusionist 22)this is my decoy/wizard
male drow bard 11/sorcerer 19
i am advancing him to bard 11, and will squat until sorcerer 10, when I will start advancing him normally and take an xp penalty after sorcerer 12 (maybe I'll squat for a while then too)
male drow sorcerer 29/paladin 1
I wont take that pally level until in heart of fury mode.
\
i played through the prologue with no problems, but i have a bad feeling that my lack of tanks (even with that awesome decoy gnome) will come back to bite me.

It looks fine. It may be tougher in the early going because your ECLs and early multiclassing mean that your average party level will be significantly lower than a "normal" party.
If you find yourself "losing" XP toward the mid-game because of your higher levels caused by a party of 4, adding characters wouldn't be a bad idea. A dedicated druid could add some versatility, and a pure barbarian (with later fighter, ranger, rogue, or wizard mix-ins) could fit nicely.
In one of my current games, I started with a party of 4 (including a dg monk) and added a couple of characters in the map before the Ice Temple (a pure sorc and a bard/druid).

Hey Krunchy, just curious for Icewind Roll playing reasons, why did you choose this party, like no tanks, two sorcerors. Only four charactors. No tanks?!?
Been a whilke since I played, but you think a bard or rouge level on ecan handle the thieving portions of the game, like locks and traps?

Umm, hey don't let me discourage you Krunchy, I was only asking. Roll-playing is fun and be a varity of mixes, you know. From a perspective of FOrgotten Realms, it could be a real blast of fun. clerics, exciting I think

I know. I think I like the idea of keeping my casters single-classed though (or maybe a tiny dip into another class)
I like my Sorcerers with one level of Paladin (added after fireball), and my Clerics pure (unless they have a high charisma, when I might add a level of paladin there too).
wizzys usually start as a rogue (dont let that high intelligence go to waste) and add a monk and cleric of bane level if they are wise (this might not be worth it if there are good wizzy robes out there).
druids work well imho with either a level of monk, cleric of bane, or just having the elf as a race.
bards are neat, but i cant figure out how to best use them

It is actually recommended to add a second level of paladin, not just one. Immunity to fear for the paladin/sorc and the +4 to saves against fear to characters within a certain radius is generally useful and can be life-saving at a critical part of the game.

What can a level of Paladin and monk do?
As for Bard I played one to I think 15/15. I like her, she was a mix with ranger. An all around tough charactor. I tried a mix of every charactor in the game. I want to make a higher level bard for spells maxing and song use

the monk levels give a +3 on all saving throws, grants evasion, allow the wisdom bonus to AC, and allow me to be a tank without wearing armor. The paladin level allows me to use all weapons, gives the charisma bonus on all saving throws (which enhances the monks evasion), and i can now use the holy avenger. I will add 1 level of ranger to this build for dual-weilding, since i cant use a shield anyway.

So a good build may be a monk, paly, ranger. Ever play a monk all the way up. How does the wisdom bonus to AC work?

Yeah, it could be a good build. imo, a monk is like a spellcaster and you want to gain levels asap if thats the main part of your build.
a monks wisdom bonus is added to AC if you are wearing no armor and no shield.
a monk 1/ranger 1/paladin x might be a good build too. or monk 2 for ac vs. missiles (+1)

SO does that AC Bonus apply to rings and cloak and robes or neckless.
That is such a boon for arcane spell castors

If i understand correctly, a monks wisdom bonus will always apply, as long as the armor slot is blank. So no robes.

1.: as this is one of my builds I would strongly recommend a 3rd monk level (speed boni on L3!)
2.: this looks like the JUPP DG -> so have a look at his guide - if I would choose this build I would add take the 3rd level for monk and rogue (2 cleric)
3.: wouldn't recommend this build
4.: aasimar and 2 Pal taken first!
be warned:
a party of 4 without muling or level-squatting could give less EXP then a party of 6!
