As a rule of thumb, you should always place spoiler tag on thread titles which deals with information which might contain - well spoilers - for the (respective) game. And that irregardless of how long the game have been out.
Just because the game has been out for a periode of time, doesn't mean that all who frequent forums and read threads want to be spoiled by information you might think "old", but to them might be new or upcomming. It is simply being polite to people, common courtesy.
And how can it at all be annoying to simply write that a thread or post contains spoiler?

but what even if its been out for like 8 years? everyone has to have played it or heard of it by then? all you will hear is SPOILER, SPOILER, why dont they just make a section in this site where theres spoilers, where you just talk about everything in the game.

It doesn't matter how long the game has been out. Somebody who is reading the forums might not have finished the game yet, and chances are they don't want to know what happens at the end. For some reason, people who post about Fable just love to talk about what happens at the end, and so lots of threads get flagged as having spoilers.

Why should multiple forums/sections be created. Surely it would be even more annoying to figure out which section to post in and to read in when you have a question or discussion about the game, then simply mark the thread and/or post as containing information which might spoil the plot?
The age of the game has nothing to do with the issue, as swcarter states - you can't guarentee that all people reading up on a game has either reached the same place or wants to know what happens next.
As I said it is common courtesy to simply indicate to people that what you are going to mention is possible spoiler information, as opposed to for instance disucssing general ideas.
It is the same with movies or books. Start reading a book and engage in a convesation where people then suddenly withouth warning reveal the plot or who the killer is and details of the ending. Does it matter if the book is 8 years old or not?
Writing spoiler is simply being polite to all the other people in the area who might not wish to read such information and give them a chance to steer clear of it.
That is also why it is important to name ones threads appropiately, so people can upfront see if it is a thread they should read or not (a concept many don't seem to understand and/or follow). A thread labled "Help Me" without any indication could just as well be about getting the game to run as it could be about practically anything.
"Help Me (Spoiler)" while still a terrible name indicates the thread will contain information about the game which could spoil the game for others.
So while it might be annoying for "you" to write the few letters indicating it is a spoiler, it is far more annoying for a reader to read a thread he thinks is about one thing only to have major plot elements revealed to him.
