Yay! The Official Patch is Out! Yay Yay and Hooray!

Ok, I propose that this thread become the Official Complain about the Official Patch Place! ;)

I will start:

I do not see any mention in the description of the Official Patch of a correction of the attacks per round bug, OR the Blade offensive spin dual wield attacks per round.

You know, I just went through another topic with a normally reasonable, nice guy who insisted Bioware should be put against the wall and shot because they had no intention of ever fixing ToB. This was on Monday. I mentioned that they were working on a big patch.

Now, it's Friday. We suddenly get a pretty damn large patch, and hey! Guess what? It's reason to be mad! Some things aren't fixed!

Why do we even wait for bug fixes? I propose we complain about them before buying the games. That way, we save time, and we can still insult a bunch of people who are doing a damn fine job on a product we enjoy with all the time in the world.

I agree. Besides, if you read carefully, before the patch they say it is a list of major fixes, so there are probably a lot of fixes that Bioware fixed but thought they are not worth of mention. I understand, the major bug is the one that affect game play (romances, crushings, etc), attacks per round is not a MAJOR thing, but they might fixed it as well.

I do not completely agree. If Bioware actually put bugs in ToB that weren't in SoA before, like the loss of off-hand attacks, they should damn well do their best to get those out again. Nobody likes buying extra bugs. I doubt anyone can rightfully claim that they did their best...

Don't get me wrong; great game and all that, but when third parties (read: Baldurdash) do a much better job at bug fixing, something is wrong.

Speaking of the attacks per round bug, has anyone figured out what patch (specifically) in the Baldurdash package, fixed that for archers?

Well, it seems to me that they've done a good work....for other bugs maybe they'll do another fix later. I think people was waiting for this patch and they could not posticipate it any longer......

Hate to tell you this, but as a person who'd gamed since computers were out, I played ancient art of war for mac that came in 3 3.5 inch diskettes, the best patches and editors are always by fans.

Its like some law of nature. Always to my experience all the good stuff comes from fans, and the company only patches what it must, not what it should.

sigh.

hah, I have read these bugs lists ..... they have finally included Jaheira romance bug fix

(though they forgot that also *I* was correcting this thing - I sent them my corrected Jaheira scripts months ago and they even answered ,but not included that in ToB)

I have a really nasty bug!!! I'd appreciate any help! when entering the room in sendai enclave with the ulitharid(right after fighting this captain and talking to the spectator) the game suddenly move reallllllll slow!!! and that's just this room, cause I tried to go back to the last room(took my characters something like 15 minutes for a walk of 30 seconds usally) and in that room they moved completely regular...

Thanks in advance!

@fable and Xyx

Uh oh... I have myself downloaded the patch this morning. I did not know there were so many issues that are not fixed by Bioware.

Is there anyway that someone could come up with scripts or something (sorry, I'm not very well-versed with such things) to fix the bug-fixer?

I have given the new ToB a run-through and so far, have not encountered any problems mentioned here. Or perhaps I have not looked hard enough... :(

blah, nothing like losing your 'net connection for a few days...bah.

Time to go see if they fixed the dual-wield bug.

Back in a flash...

OK, perhaps I was hasty...I probably should have said that this thread could be designated a place "to DISCUSS the patch" instead of what I wrote, which was "to complain about"

Anyway, I really was just bumping the topic, trying to get a discussion started, and mentioning one issue I have with the game...I think I also was having a little fit of distemper. (I did say yay yay and hooray...that's really how I felt when I found out about the patch being out.)

Well, the Jailkeep golem got a good beating.

A real good beating.

The scoop:

Clean install of ToB/SoA
Patched
Rebooted
Created a fresh new character
Saved the game
Added the Celestial Fury via Shadowkeeper
Rebooted (just because, not a necessary step)
Started the game
Equipped plain Katana in primary hand
Equipped CF in offhand
Attacked the Jailkeeper Golem

Unhasted/No Spin - offhand swung (the golem got stunned in fact)
Offensive Spin - offhand did not swing.
Haste - offhand did not swing.

By not swinging I mean no recorded rolls indicating the (left) attack, no stun animation (despite 75% of the hits landing), not even the golem save vs spell roll. All of which WERE present in the unhasted/non-spin test.

NOTE - I did not check to see how many attacks/round.

*sigh*

So the answer is:

No, they did not fix the dual wield bug that was added with the expansion pack. A new bug, detrimental to many classes, unfixed. Off to the BI Forums I go I go, off to the BI Forums I go...

Give them your love :)

The patch fixed most of the crash bugs. Bioware didn't correct most of the gameplay issues. Gameplay bugs is what Baldurdash is for. ;)

Guys, give them a break! The did do a damn fine job at SoA and ToB. :)

Well, all right then. I guess we have to wait for Ken (bless that guy's soul) @ Team BG to do something about it.

Don't take it the wrong way, yes SoA/ToB were good games, yes its a shame they didn't fix gameplay bugs, yes they shouldn't rely on great folks like Kevin D and others to make fixes, yes I shouldn't look at naked pictures of Brittany Spears, etc.

I'm just doing the beating-of-my-head-against-the-wall routine to point out that the bug is still there and still needs to be fixed so that its not some big ol' surprise.
