best armor

in my eye these spring to mind

armor of faith +3 ac1
+1 to all saving throws

firecam full plate ac0
+1 to all saving throws
free action (bugged)

armor of the hart +3 ac-2

red dragon scale ac-1
50 fire resistance
nonmagical

human flesh +5 ac3
20 magic resistance
+4 to all saving throws

the firecam plate should be counted out as its npc specific, and chars are not meant to wear it, a lot of hidden requirements in it for to ensure only keldorn may wear it.

ill say the 3 main contenders is:
armor of the hart for pure ac bonus. But i wonder, is 3 ac worth sacrificing for the bonus to saves with the armor of faith?..one can never have too many saving throw bonuses.
or the red dragon scale, that one is an easy swapout for the armor of the hart, the 50 fire res is very nice to have. but if your main has the cloak of mirroring, perhaps it might be better to give the dragon plate to another. as more fire attacks is given to be bounced back. traps being the sole exception.

Best Leather Armour: The Night's Gift + 5, AC 3

Best Studded Leather Armour: Shadow Dragon Scale, AC 1

Best Chain Mail: Bladesinger Chain +4, AC 1

Best Plate Mail: Drow Full Plate + 5, AC -4

They're my choices :D

well, you arent allowed to use the drow plates for that much. its an oversigth in the game that you can get them up in the light.

only if youre a multi or dual spellcaster the bladesinger is the best..then theres the crimson chain +5...and the +5 drow chain still lets you use spells.

armor of deep night?? theres a better leather..the nights gift +5 have ac 3, and +20 hide in shadows. the nights gift +4 only have ac3 and is a studded leather

and have you considered the aegers hide? ac3 as well +15 res to fire, cold and acid as well confusion imunity. but hide armors puts a penalty of thief skills, about as much as elven chains

Yep, lucian, I already edited it... even before you picked up on that one too! :D

As for the drow armour not being used through the whole game is irrelevant. You asked for the best armour and having one with an AC of -4 to me sounds like the best! :D

Aegers Hide is studded leather if I'm not mistaken. Hence shadow dragon scale being better.

if we exclude drow armors then, what would you think was the best plate?..and would you trade off a higher ac plate for the less ac endowed armor of faith to get saving throws?

i never picks up the drow armors, you only have them for so short a time, and theyre worth almost nil in ust natha

the aeger is a hide armor. the text says hide, and when you look at it in infinity explorer it impedes thief skills as per the manual.

Ok ok, excluding Drow armour (spoilsport :p )

Best Leather Armour: The Night's Gift +5, AC 3.

Reason: Best AC for leather armour, plus 20% bonus to hide in shadows.

Best Studded Leather Armour: Shadow Dragon Scale, AC 1.

Reason: Best AC for studded leather armour, plus 50% resistance to acid damage.

Best Chain Mail: Bladesinger Chain +4, AC 1.

Reason: Although Crimson Chain +5 has AC of 0, Bladesinger allows multi-classed mages to cast spells while wearing it.

Best Plate Mail: Gorgon Plate +4, AC -1.

Reason: Best AC of any plate mail, plus 15% resistance to fire and acid.

Best Full Plate Mail: Armour of the Hart +3, AC -2.

Reason: Best AC of any full plate mail.

There... they're my final choices! :D

Hmmmm... I didn't know that :)

Ok, so best Hide Armour is Aeger Hide Armour then! :D

but wouldnt the red dragon scale be more preferable? one ac less, and it have fire resistance. and is non magical.

but you didnt answer about trading an ac heavy armor for a lesser one, but which have saving throws bonuses, which seems should be more important.

The best arour would have to be the Red dragon scale. Why may you ask? Well, its AC is -1, it has 50% magic resistance (i think) and you may wear magical items to up your AC even more!
The drow Full Pltae may have -4 AC but what for? Just for the underdark? That stuff goes poof the minute you exit the underdark! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

the red dragon scale gives 50 FIRE resistance. but i dont think that being nonmagical isnt that big a deal..i always use ring of gaxx and ring of free action (hates those power word stuns)
and the ring of free action gives a half attack to figther classes

Ok, way the frequency of people using fire against you, against the frequency of people hitting you.

More often than not, that extra +1 to AC is going to be more beneficial than resistance to fire damage. That's my reasoning and I'm sticking to it! :D

Another way to look at it.

Ok, say you have a fire arrow coming towards you. With the -1 AC it hits you, but the fire is reduced by 50%.

If you have -2 AC though, it misses you, therefore, theoretically, you just absorbed 100% of the damage since it missed. So in effect having 100% fire resistance! :D Technically of course ;) :D

Ok then, another way to look at this:

Lets say I chuck on a Ring Of Protection +2
And lets say an arrow comes at 'ya. It misses both me and you, but, OH NO! The mage from behind just cast Fireball. I take 10 damage and your take 20. :p NOw which is a better class?
I bet with your heavily enchanted Armour you cant put on that ring! :p :p :p :p

The best armor? Easily Sarevok's old suit. 100% resistance to Fire, Electricity, Cold, Acid, Magical Fire, Magical Cold, and 50% resist to Slashing, Crushing, Piercing and Missile damage (not to mention the fact that it looks cool). Its AC is the same as Full plate +1 (i.e. AC 0). Anything else is just tin foil :p :D Image

Seriously, I prefer Red Dragon scale. When combined with a Ring of Protection +2 and the Ring of Gaxx you can really take some punishment. Not to mention the status symbol of wearing armor made from a dragon's hide. ;) :)

many of the level 10 spells in tob are fire based.

comet and dragons breath springing to mind. i would NOT like to be on the receving end of either!

meteor storm is also fire based..and the priest firestorm and flamestrike..nullifying a whole slew of potent attacks. And if you have over 100 of one elemental resist, you get healed. And fire is the most prevalent elemental spell.

best leather is human skin +5 20% magic res.
