i am new to these forums but a fair bit-not overly though experienced with bg1 and 2 and it is on SOA i have a problem because malchor harpell keeps killing either myself or someone in my group and i don't want to lose any of them. how can i stop this? i have tried moving to a different area on the map but he just follows and casts his spell there. any help would be greately welcomed.

re:

i think it is imprisonment but i cannot be sure because my players never come back and (only 1 ever gets actually taken) myself just dies when he does this. it is after drizzt helps me with bodhi and whenever i attack Harpell he just doesn't take any damage.

Stock up on Freedom and Death Ward spells and see if either of those help. If not try general magic resistence spells.

If I remember correctly Harpell appears if you have got some of Drizzt's gear. Although I could be wrong, I believe him to be unkillable (by conventional means), and the "special" ability he has is instant death. The only solution is probably a reload from before you nicked all that cool stuff...... - Curdis !

EoU has a componant which lets you keep the stuff... The only other options would be Stat drain or lvl drain. If you can polymorph, turn into a Mind Flayer!

Dropping the stuff and never touching it again stops Harpell from showing up as well.

If you really want to hold on to Drizzt's equipment, however, then you might want to download the Ease-of-Use mod stramoski is referring to.

I thought Harpell was supposed to appear if you had taken any of Drizzt's party equipment and take the more unique best stuff regardless of whether you agree or not. I don't remember him attacking or anything like that.
I picked up some standard magical equipment when one or more of the party died from the vampires and I think that equipment wasn't taken (things like Studded Leather +1, Mace +2 etc.).
